I'll join in. September goals will be converting the Black Panther squadron of demigryph knights (just done 1 of 3 now), and painting 15 converted crossbowmen.

Hello I'd like to join this month as well. I'm not a very good or fast painter but I'd like to finish my first 20 Boyz and a Killa Kan in September.

That's a fantastic miniature, very well painted indeed! Great stuff. (What miniature range is it from?)

I'm going to make my goal "Paint 18 Empirish Miniatures" and see how far I get. There's witch hunters, huntsmen, knights, a standard bearer, all sorts in the pile... let's see if I can find the Empire Muse again.

The building of Black Panther Squadron is coming along nicely. All that's left is one cloak. To make the Knights Panther cloaks fall neatly along the back, I had to cut them into pieces, glue them together, and greenstuff the gaps. Very pleased with the result so far.

I've managed to reassemble and repaint most of the elves I got in that epic [HA] swapmeet haul. I was hoping to have the whole army finished within the month but my work schedule is so busy I don't think that will happen. Plus I need more spear arms to fix all those misassembled spear men I bought.

Alrighty, the Black Panther Squadron has been built. Pics taken in suboptimal light conditions by a low-end phone camera.

The last picture is a close-up of the cloaks and the greenstuffing I did to close the gaps left by cutting and reassembling them. I'm quite satisfied with the result so far, but it remains to be seen whether it shows when finally painted. The blackness of the panther cloaks should help obscure it.

Those old handgunners are some seriously nice models. I should mix in some among my 6th edition starter box handgunners.

Konrad, great work on those knight cloaks. I am sure it'll look seamless when painted.

how did you decide where to cut? just made it up as you went? and did you glue the pieces onto some support first before applying the green stuff?

I largely made it up as I went, with the objective of making the cloaks mostly obey gravity. Something they, for that matter, don't even properly do in the original Knightly Orders box, but rather flutter like they'd either be feather light or the knights ride at blazing speed. I suspect it's because the cloaks doubled up for Mordheim and had to look good on infantrymen too.

I started off cutting the cloak just above the feline head, glueing the top bit to the shoulders of the knight, then worked my way downwards from there. There was quite an angle between that topmost and the next bit, to get the cloak to wrap around the shoulders properly. Then I added piece by piece, letting the cloak fall almost straight down, then bend horizontally and flow along the back of the demigryph.

I didn't use any support, the pieces had enough contact points and edges to stay together with the power of superglue. The gaps and the contact points/edges were then greenstuffed over. What surprised me was how different the three of them turned out, despite all using the same cloak bit.
