Mordheim Warbands
« on: April 05, 2015, 10:27:41 PM »
Hi everyone! I recently started a Mercenary Warband for my groups upcoming campaign. First up is my Reikland mercenaries (though painted in Averland colours).

Here's the leader: Klaus Erhart, drunken captain and fighter extraordinare. With him his trusty champions Otto Schwarz and Dieter Fuchs.

Next up is the youngbloods Jürgen Hauptman and Heinke Bessen, eager to prove themselves to their peers.

Swordsmen, no surnames given yet. First they must earn it in glorious combat!

And lastly, the marksmen who are yearning to put some arrows and bolts into their foes.

Apologies for the picture quality! I shall upload some better pictures eventually. I also have a Sisters of Sigmar warband in progress. Stay tuned for more!

Those are fantastic! They're well painted and each soldier feels like they have their own personality to them. Well done!  :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Thanks for the replies!
Here's a group shot with better lighting.

And as promised, the beginning of my sisters warband.

I also painted one of the very old Wood Elf models to use as a hired elven ranger if I want to.

That is one old skool ranger ;-)

In other news: I do like this warband and your sisters start. I'm also pondering on a sisters themed project...

Always good to see a nice warband project, I shall get back to mine some day. I don't play much so mostly I just pick models out of my Empire army to use, which is a bit lazy!

I'm considering using the latest Raging Heroes kickstarter as the basis of a Sisters-style warband. Mostly because I shouldn't spend enough to do a WH army!

I'm a fan of everything shown here! I especially love the sisters. I've been wanting to get my hands on those models for a while now.

Great job!

Thanks for your comments guys!
I have taken some pictures of my mostly finished Sisters warband, almost done with them!

First up is this gal which is a special character called Bertha Bestrafnung I think, though I'm using her for the leader of the warband.

My two other Sisters Superior, Bellatrix and Brunhilde(the as of yet unnamned third one is posted above).

Two regular sisters:

Novices, as you can see they came with broken hammers I had to fix. Hard to make it look good though.

And lastly the Augur which I'm not satisfied with, the model is from mantic's Kings of War Basileans. The models aren't as detailed and well made as what I'm used to so it was hard to make it look good but it will have to do for now.

Cheers!

Thanks!  :::cheers::: With both my warbands practically finished I'm planning on converting some mercenary ogres and other hireling characters.
I have two ogres planned so far. One based on the empire landsknecht style wielding a giant concertina (when the enemies make fear checks it's not becaus of the big brute but the horrible sound of him playing  :-D). The other one is going to be dressed as a weddingbride.

Is the Bertha character a GW model? I really like the look of it.

Yes she is a special character in Mordheim, I was very lucky to find it on a swedish auctioning site for relatively cheap.

Hi everyone! Nothing new for the warbands but I've made some terrain for Mordheim I wanted to show.

And I also painted up two out of three werewolves from mantic's kings of war line. I really don't like their official colour scheme so I painted them in colours I find more fitting for werewolves, I greenstuffed more fur to them as well.

Really nice stuff here!  :::cheers:::

Those Mantic Werewolves looks good. I've been mostly avoiding their stuff, but maybe, after all, their sculpts can work.

My Mordheim hobby has been on a long hiatus. I have some of the models, a couple of them even painted, but mostly just pick troops from my Stirland army.

Thanks!

Yeah mantic models are swing or miss, the often need a little extra work. The moldlines ar a pain to remove since they are often tucked away in corners and between fingers and such, but with a good paintjob you can salvage almost anything!

The Mantic Undead range is very popular over on the Vampire Counts forum, I've got 80 of their skeletons in my army. How does your Augur look alongside the GW models? In general Mantic minis seem a little smaller?

Yeah they are a bit small, she looks almost like a little kid next to the others.  The werewolves are a good size though.

I like how you painted the Sisters' faces. Very precise work there.

If you're looking for an alternative, how about this lady?

I bought some, but they ended up in my closet.

My wife uses those were wolves as crypt horrors and they look super cool. Agreed that the mantic color scheme makes then look worse.

They were a bit of a pain to glue but other than that I was impressed by them.

Thanks for this. It's the best alternate I've seen yet (and it's a low bar because I'm not a fan of the GW one), except this one:

But I don't think they're going to reach their funding goal.

Very nice Warband;  me and a few at our local store started a small campaign; we got Reikland mercs (me), beastsmen and undead, we might also have a Skaven player, and the Beastsmen player is looking to maybe do a Dwarven band
