I'm finally giving in and starting a blog to keep me painting my army. (I had about 6000 points of unpainted space marines when I sold it!).

There isn't a particular fluff behind my army, its mainly stuff I use on the table, and a few models I like. I'm going with an Altdorf scheme, so lots of red and blue! Yay....... lol

I'll post what I have made and to be painted here, and will upload some photos next week when I have my camera.

Lords/Heroes

Karl Franz on Deathclaw, and I'm waiting for his dragon

Kurt Helborg

Ludwig Schwarzhelm

General on a Griffon

Templar Grand Marshall

Arch Lector on War Altar

Balthasar Gelt

Lots of Wizards of various colleges

3 Warrior priests on foot

Warrior Priest on Horse (Valten model)

Engineer

Captasus

BSB

Core

2 units of 40 Halberdiers

40 Swordsmen

20 Handgunners

17 Knights

10 Archers

20 Militia

10 Crossbows

Special

Cannon

2 Mortars

40 Greatswords

5 Outriders

(3 more Cannons/Mortars on their way)

Rare

Hellstorm

Hellblaster

Stank

30 Flagellants

Writing it down like that I realise this is going to take forever to do!  :-o

Thanks for reading and hopefully for the inspiration and comments to keep me painting

Sorry so long will include pictures in my next post

Jon

PS to warn you all, I have been collecting a long time, however this is my first army that I am painting so be nice!  :-P

I think you will find that a great majority of people here are nice in their comments. Don't worry, everyone had to start somewhere. With that much to paint I guarantee you will be 10x better by the time you are finished. You'll get complements and contructive criticism and suggestions for how to improve. People here are very helpful. Have fun. A plog like this is a great way to keep yourself motivated.

Enchanted blue + blue wash, Mechrite red + red or purple wash.

It should be quite quick! And maintaining speed is key to maintaining impetus (for me at least)

Good luck.

i do mechrite, gore red wash......necron abyss, regal blue, devlan mud wash.

Then all the stuff over the rest of the model, heavy devlan, so they look quite dirty1 :-)

Managed 10 halberdiers so far, and treated myself to a warrior priest between ranks!

Consider basecoating in red. Saves half the work.

red basecoat (army painter for example)
dark red wash
highlight

blue foundation colour, blue wash over it, highlight

flesh (I have a flagellant tutorial floating around with my R&F method)

the rest of the equipment : base colour + black or brown wash.

Quick and easy.

Pics are a bit dark, but this looks quite good, apart from the WP's staring eyes...

Looking good, your halberdiers have come out very nicely. How long did it take you to paint the unit? The Warrior Priest has come out well too, although personally I would spend more time on him as he is a character. Build up higlights on the red and fix the eyes a bit. Although if you are happy enough with him then ignore me. I would like to see plenty more pictures and look forward to seeing the army completed.

Thanks for the replies guys. I now have my camera, so i can give you a couple of better pictures of the same stuff....sorry!

@ Jamesy... I agree about the eyes, however i have tried to "fix" them lots of times, and in my opinion just made them worse, or the face worse. I dont tend to do much highlighting, using the washes to create the depth of colour. Also I wanted my Warrior priest looking quite dark. I'm pretty happy with the cloak, its just the b****y faces i cant get right! :-(

So without anymore faffing, some better (hopefully) pics

Thanks for the comments, and keep them coming!  :icon_biggrin:

Sorry for the double posting between any replies, but I managed to paint another 7 Halberdiers! :-D

The new 7

The complete unit so far

Group shot from above (sorry not such a great photo)

I have also found the greatest invention ever!! The spray gun,  have now basecoated the rest of the unit, and Karl Franz's Dragon!  :icon_biggrin: (No I won't be using him very often, but it will be fun showing up to games with him, just sat on the sidelines to intimidate a bit!  :icon_biggrin:)

PS: last time I attempt to take indoor pictures, will wait until its light outside! lol

Hi everyone, between revision, i've managed to get another 6 halberdiers painted, so I put them here for your consideration!  :biggriin:

The new 6

The whole group

Thanks for the C&C

Also does anyone use purity seal on their models? Is it ok to use it with static grass on the base?

Ah the old necromancer...

I'd give his grey robe a quick dark grey or black wash, to create some more depth, but apart from that : Great !

You seem to be hitting a good speed, and they look cool!

The 2nd warrior priests eyes are even good.

Your painting gets exponentially better with each batch of guys, great stuff. Also how did you do the feathers on the most recent 6 Halberdiers?
I've never been a fan of the 'perfect white feathers' look but whenever I try to dirty them up like that it just looks messy.

Thanks for the compliment Falcatarius, I'm trying to improve as i go!

The last six I sprayed blue, then painted them up in each colour, etc, for the feathers, i used tallern flesh, bleached bone then a heavy orgyn flesh wash on the feathers!

Just got back from a 2000 point thrashing by Throgg and 11 Ogres, and a unit of chosen! OUCH!!! ::heretic::
