I've got sick. AGAIN. So I've wasted a lot of time painting and gluing minis, reading, watching movies from my to-watch list and... playing Warhammer Quest on Steam, which is a very, very good game. I recommend you try it, for that oldhammer feels. Review is on my blog, if anyone's interested.

I've been playing warhammer quest recently as well. Actually started playing it because I saw you playing a bit Xath and thought I might as well give it a try as well. I'm having a ton of fun with it but the window resolution seems a bit off. It often opens up with the bottom of the window off the screen and the end turn and inventory button where I cant click on it. I had to hide the toolbar on the bottom to be able to click stuff.

Other then whatever's causing that the game is pretty fun. The Grey Wizard is just amazing if he gets a decent magic turn.

Sorry to here you got sick again. Good to hear your doing okay now. :smile2:

I understand your med problems,  my back is still recovering and I'm always in need of my advil and muscle relaxants so I don't move like a octogenarian.

Awesome review btw, I read it earlier and was happy to hear it had such a oldhammer charm to it. :-)

I wasted elerium cores on EXO suits which I barely used, and can now get WAR suits :( :(

Trying to spam advanced ammo to get armour piercing ammo for my sniper.

and saving them to get the best heavy wepaons too (I have first tier flamethrower and shredder cannon).

Just got my first colonel, and all plasma weapons now. Need moar supplies to buy warden armour too.

So for you lucky people enjoying Xcom 2 already, what's your preferred strategy for using concealment? Do you set up an ambush and blast the first patrol you find? Or do you try and sneak closer to the objective and bypass patrols?

I've been watching a good number of people play and I've seen both so far. Any preferences amongst you folks?

I tend to go for the first engagement I find. Thing is - if you bypass and rumble a pod further towards the objective you run the risk of being pincered. Which is REALLY inconvenient. :D

I am, however, liking a ranger with Phantom more and more. He stays concealed when the squad is revealed, so I can continue to scout concealed after the first engagement until I absolutely need him to contribute.

I have a ranger with phantom., and a ranger with the ability that lets you go back into conceal. I like both a lot.

I go for first kill, as I dont want them coming back later.

I just triggered 2 pods while finishing another, and was so surprised I didn't lose anyone. Was fun!

mimic beacon bought me some time, then I had just enough firepower and grenades to bust cover, and armour, and let my Sniper get Super-serial on their asses.

Yeah, my squads tend to be structured around the sniper once he gets serial and kill zone. So deadly!

At 4 it is straight up conceal side ranger, blade side ranger, combat hacker, and combi-heavy some explody/some gun stuff. At 5 I add a sniper which ends up being a combi-build I find quick draw and face off on the pistol side invaluable. At the 6 I add a straight up medic.

I liked to roll with 2 grenadiers, 1 psy operative, 1 sharpshooter (almost exclusively rifle skills), 1 shotgun focused ranger and 1 specialist (mixed combat/healer) in my last run. Worked pretty well!

I don't think there is such a thing as an objectively ideal squad composition. And that's great!

I have found though that the game gets rather dull after you've linked up with most resistance groups. Waiting on Shadow Chamber research to trigger next story mission only to be interrupted by random missions the rewards of which I no longer really require has made late game a slog for me.

That was a big problem with EU and ew, they obviously aimed to fix but hard to do so.

I've delayed progressing story wise as long as possible, almost fully TechEd now... Maybe I should have pressed in with story a bit more.

I have the avatar project floating at 1 or 2 currently.  I have everything researched, the best armor, and the best guns.  Most of my squad is maxed out.  I just finished up my second Comm so I can contact the rest of the map.

I have not yet done a Psi op yet though!  I am goign to build the room shortly I think.  Currently I run:

2 Rangers - one 90% stealth and one entirely a blitzer
2 grenadier - shred, rupture, and the rest explosives - they just tear the field to bitz and start those ambushes off with a salvo grenade.
1 sniper - serial sniper in the cat bird seat is required!
1 hacker - medic/over watch machine/robot killer

I would likely drop a genadier for a psi op eventually.

psi ops are really fun, but I think taking 2 grenadiers makes it "easier", so many grenades to bust cover and set up the serial sniper.
