I don't know what where in these updates, I do know however that they fixed the phalanx formations for hoplites.  I can now advance and attack in them.  One gripe me and Angry Joe had.

If you can take the province then why not.

kick started up a new spartan campaign.  I got the "In the Footsteps of Great Men" achievement somehow.  Either from destroying Athens or capturing Hella, Macedonia, Thrace, and Asia.  I control the Aegean! Trying to figure out how to balance happiness.  With only 2 edicts it'll be tough.  I'm sending my 4 armies to all the provincial capitals to help manage it.

only have 2 of the royal family and 4 other families in the politics.  I run 33% of our version of the senate.  Not sure how to make more of my royal family.

I'm raking in so much money I should probably fill up my armies and build another army or two.  Perhaps another navy too.  Not sure where to direct my conquest.  Historically speaking it would be Syracuse but I think I should take out Rome being that we both are the toughest kids on the block.  I could push north and take out barbarians or east and take all of asia minor.

I'd like to do the good old "Carthaginem esse delendam" as Rome. Don't want it. I wanna go north, east and west primarily.

trying to figure out why there's a limit on spartan hoplite troops. I am Sparta dammit!  :eusa_wall:

Think I've gotten a handle on the game.  may try a northern barbarian tribe for reals.

Because Sparta was pretty small, there weren't that many spartan citizens

I figured after conquering 4 provinces for 50 years they'd institute the agoge there too. :x

Guess I'm stuck making spartan pike-men until I get the next tier of military building.

I know what you mean!

I don't even take some trade agreements and other goodies from factions I know I will attack later - not because of the slight hit to diplomacy I might take, but because "nah, I wouldn't feel good taking your money and becoming friends now since I plan to kick your ass at some point in the near future... "

guess I'm a greedy king/chief/consul.  I do it all the time.

Grumpy: "Where's the alarm guy?"
Happy: "Boss told me, when the guy was done, I should take him out. One less share, right?"
Grumpy: "Funny, he told me somethin' similar."

Really enjoying RTW2 now.  The patches are making this into a great game.

I am at an 8.5 now.

every time I get to 4 provinces happiness seems to go to shit and is hard to manage.  any tips?  I have been using dignitaries and religious buildings that promote happiness.

What culture are you?  Are the provinces a different culture than yours?

Like the game more and more too, but I hate hate hate the bloody objective marker in open field battles. Forces me to stand in an open field like an idiot when attacked by a superior army instead of allowing me to deploy in a good defensive position.

They REALLY need to get rid of that, or at least implement an option to turn it off.

culture is at 100% in all my provinces.  When playing as Sparta everyone I conquered had Hellenistic culture.  Playing as Suebi only the newest one is still being converted but my 100% Germanic provinces are bleeding happiness.

@ Aldaris, by open field battles I havnt had that problem  unless the opposing army fortifies.

Happiness is just maths in this game, just make a count and change some building around.

for suebi its pretty high on the research tier.  I guess at a certain point when I am rolling in denarii I should start changing my yellow buildings from fiance to happiness.

Had my first battle with terrible frame rates today.  4000 troops on either side but I've had larger armies fight with perfectly fine frame rates.  Not sure what was the cause of it for that one.

Anyone play Madden 25 yet?  It's pretty cheap on Amazon, possibly due to it averaging very low on the customer reviews.  The NFL season starting has made me want to play it, is it worth $40?

did you play 13?

It's pretty fun, but i think a lot of that for me is the increased playbook stuff for Kelly.

It has some REALLY weird glitches

Every now and then when it's raining during a battle my frame rate drops to almost nothing.  You either  have to re-roll the weather, turn off fancy graphics, or quit and start the battle again hoping for better weather.
