Make Your Hobby Poll Suggestions Here !!!
« on: June 14, 2020, 06:26:13 PM »
Do you have suggestions for hobby related "polls" to have folks answer and enjoy discussing :icon_question:

Although I've been developing a list, if there is a topic that you'd like to see a hobby related "poll" for folks to answer and discuss, feel free to post the idea in this thread.

We're not guaranteeing it'll get posted, nor when, nor that it'll look the same way that some one presents it here on this thread, although we will consider the suggestions as we continue adding new polls.

Thank you in advance for your ideas, patience, and understanding! :icon_cool: :::cheers:::

What do you want to learn from and about us?

One that comes to my mind is how many other fantasy battle games people know and/or have played. There are half a dozen older and half a dozen newer non-Warhammer games out there. Altough some at least are actually semi-Warhammer...

You could poll how people see the function of this forum. There was a big reorganization two years ago, with new subfora, but there's little going on in those. Was it rather a cleaning, a way to get the stuff away from the popular/focus fora? Is the focus of this forum still Empire, Warhammer, Games Workshop, Fantasy - or the hobby in general? Or is the focus the people who are (still) here, the community?

And which other fora people use for their Warhammer/Empire hobby these days? I guess Facebook would come out big. Of course you would first need to chart what (active) social media channels there are.

RPG's, computer games, reading & art - their importance in relation to the miniature games hobby?

The classic question: collecting, painting, or gaming?

What competes most with the hobby: family, work, travel, other hobbies?

How about a poll that asks about what aspects of the hobby interest you the most.  ie - assembly, conversions, terrain, painting, fluff, campaigns, army composition, playing - competitive or non or ???

What would make up this list?  So far I have 9th Age, Kings of War, and Dragon Rampant.

Can this be expanded upon so I can understand what your getting at here?

The classic question: collecting, painting, or gaming?
So include those three, plus writing fluff, anything else? I presume this is would be asking what is some one's priority in the hobby.

A different question there, and wondering if there are other catagories that could be included.

How about a query regarding the size of people's gaming circles/groups?  Do you regularly play with just one opponent, or just a couple?  Do you have a half-dozen friends you game with?  Always at the same place or do you rotate locations?  Local hobby store with 20 regulars?  Is the tournament scene (is there still a tournament scene?) your thing?

Whats the biggest factors when getting into a new game or into a new army? Looks, budget, your gaming group is playing it, etc.

I'm thinking of this "poll" question ...

... what is your favorite part of the hobby?

Collecting
Converting
Gaming
Making scenery
Painting
Scenario design
Sculpting
Socializing while hobbying
Writing fluff

Am I missing something that might make sense to have on the list :icon_question:

I'd say it means modelling. Just a guess.
Photobucket has now re-destroyed my pictures, so the first half of my collected works thread is no longer working again. To see my website version of the campaign thread, with fully functioning pictures, please go to https://bigsmallworlds.com/

Well you know, clipping stuff of sprues, removing moldlines, dry fitting and then getting messy with glue, maybe a bit of magnetizing here and there also

I would be keen to see what 'scale' people use.
I use 10mm myself.

Are you referring to whatscale folks are using for Warhammer Fantasy?

I like the idea and will put something together for this on Sunday, a bit out of steam at the moment.

Might do a poll about which fantasy battle games people play these days. And when they played the last time. Eight editions of Warhammer, Warhammer Renaissance, Warhammer Armies Project/9th ed, The Ninth Age, Kings of War (three editions by now), Oathmark. There are some fringe games and many older fantasy battles games too (Grenadier Fantasy Warriors, TSR/Ral Partha Battle System). And LotR and Warlords of Erehwon might catch peoples' eye, even if they might be seen more like skirmish/warband games. Chronopia and others fall into this category too. Oh, and AoS, of course.

Could do a poll about which ed of WHFB people played the most, what they prefer nowadays, or which ed (book) they think of when collecting, painting and arranging Warhammer figurines for display. At least this topic has invited some discussion, without a poll. :-)

Let me consider how we can set something like that up.

Also, the structure of the software doesn't make it easy to create a survey like situation, although I have considered creating a survey through one so the survey mechanisms available.  However, this may be good for a thread of its own, let me consider that as well.

Appreciate the ideas! :icon_cool: :::cheers:::

I'm slowly moving into 15mm scale which has the advantage of being half the size

Definitely will get turning at least some of these into polls, thank you again!  :biggriin:

This is another good one where a poll could be generated from, thank you again too! :smile2:
