There arent a lot of us this time around, and i must say, please post at least 1 pic of something you have done somewhere if you haven't already... no matter how much stalking, if you have no pics of your own stuff anywhere, it will be hard to match... unless by definition you really want a surprise...

Amen I second that too.

Commandant! We would be happy to have you. But the assignments for this year have been made, alas!

If someone else comes in (I guess it should be two someone elses? So it is not obvious who gets who . . .) I could get you in.

OR! If there is someone who hasn't yet stalked their recipient and who would be willing to do change their recipient to Commandant, I could assign Commandant to you and your recipient to Commandant . . . If this is the case, PM me!! Do not post publicly here!

Also, Commandant! The last time I was involved in the Pleasant Surprise, you didn't get a gift :( I volunteered to make you a 2nd round, but various factors prevented me from finishing it. But I do have the models on my desk! Send me your name and address - both for this Pleasant Surprise and for the 2nd round from ages ago!

I have received a kind offer from a participant to be part of the shuffle! So, Commandant is in - both Commandant and the volunteer have been informed of the change.

All exciting!

I haven't posted a lot of pictures here lately. So it might get hard to find anything releated to me painting wise.
So I will give a short update on my collection and I will  post some pictures of them as soon as possible.

For Warhammer I only play Dwarfs anymore, and most of them are rather old models. The nolstalgic round dwarfs.
The other game I play is Mordheim, mostly Halflings, Marienburgers and Undead. The Undead aren't zombies, but more tiny soldiers/puppets/... created by a crazy wizard (mostly from the GW Familiar range).

The November 15th start time has come, unfortunately. Again, I can do the shimmy shuffle with the participants if there is someone willing to change who hasn't already started work on the Surprise. If anyone is willing to do that, let me know via PM and I can do what I did for Commandant last night.

All of my stuff is still packed away in a million boxes. My collections include on warhammer full armies of Empire,  orks. Goblins, high elves and a small chunk of dwarves.  I have a starter box of skaven which are going down the AOS trail and I'm going to get that new sigmarine box set that is just coming out.  40k I have complete armies of sisters, Valhallen imperial, orks, guardian of the covenant space marines and dark angels marine and a space Wolves army.  Bloodbowl I have an ork team and a Viking team. That's it! Love em alll despite my partners fervent hatred of em all!
I managed to build my hobby room in the basement. Just needs my table built (hopefully this weekend) and an entire paint selection and we'll be fine 😸

Well done on getting this re-started - I'm going to be lazily watching from the sidelines, cos it's great fun when things start arriving at their destinations.

Good to see this running.

I haven't participated since not having finished JAK's from way back.  It is still sitting on the painting desk for a little more effort, plus a gift beyond that for him to use for whatever other projects he might pull from it for in his hobby world of miniatures.

I'll be watching this thread as the projects role forward. :icon_cool:

I appear to have been extremely lax with updates to my current wargaming situation. Will amend within 24 hours.

I would simply recommend whoever has Captain Fearless begins with the mustache on the model. Basically, just make a mustache and then add the model in later. If, indeed, a model is necessary.

Are you suggesting they make a mustache model? Or perhaps that it's a model mustache?

My armies:
Much Empire (always happy for more!)
Much Necrons (a veritable silver tide)
Many Khorne Daemons inbound (waiting for a huge order to arrive)

But I know I'd be happy with anything. Pleasant Surprises have never failed to delight and amaze me.

Current project - acolytes

Edit: I don't actually have a Kurt Helborg model, surprisingly.

Your basing is interesting! Do you paint it later? Is there a theme for that colour?
Personally i send bases that are conpletely untouched so that people have the option to blend into their armies seamlessly, but i havent seen blue/grey bases before!

That blue-grey is my primer, a nice neutralish midtone that makes details easy to see before applying colour and can work with dark or light schemes.
Also I find it's more natural than black or white when building flesh tones over it.

Ah, of course. I always use black, but recently all 'matt black' i have bought has been mislabled and is actually gloss. Kind of annoying because the gloss goes on thicker.
I do have trouble with light colours, and i used to try and prime with white, but it always ended badly.

You can try grey or white followed by a black/dark wash as a base coat. It gives you lighter tones on the raised areas, darker in the shadows.

Yep, I tend to hit models with a wash if I'm struggling to see the details clearly.

Well, I have glued together the main model and glued it to a base and started work on the rider.

And I also allready started building the present. But it will take some time to finish.  :icon_biggrin:
