Is there an 'England Bash'?
« on: July 22, 2008, 07:40:24 PM »
The subject kinda says it. There's a Mid-Adlantic Bash, and now a New England Bash, but to be honest they're both a loooooooooong way from Yorkshire. So is there an England Bash or anything like?
I feel my signature should say something witty and urbane, to indicate that I'm a stylish and elegant man. But I'm not. So it doesn't.

You just missed the Western European Bash.  But try to organize something up your way, there seem to be a lot of Englis and a few Scots on the site.

I kinda felt that maybe I should have put 'Britain Bash' rather than 'England Bash', but it seemed to ring better next to 'New England Bash.' Given that our fair isle(s) isn't really that big I suspect seperate bashes are probably not really necessary, although I like the sounds of an Isle of Man Bash.

Also, what's involved in these bashes?

Also also, I'm in England (but I suspect you'd figured that one out, you clever people...).

There are definitely several people up for an england bash.

The more people who want to go, the bigger a logisitcal challenge it becomes!

I'm pretty darn near the centre of England . . .  :-D

Just outside of Birmingham - give it a couple of months (for painting and getting money together) and I'd be more than up for a British Bash  :-D

It says England bash, not Wales.

Britain is small enough that it is fairly easy to get around- as long as you arent traveling from North scotland or something!

I hope to have that next summer.  As it stood we already had 7 in attendance.  For some reason this one was hard to get people to come.

You could call it "The England and surrounding countries bash".
Even though it is held on the Isle of Man.

If the England Bash is going to be held anywhere, it should be help in Yorkshire, more specifically Sheffield, as it has the highest concentration of W-E members than any other city/place in England  :icon_wink:. Also, how 'bout calling it the "Albion Midsummer bash", and hold it on Midsummer's day. With a barbecue. And Beer. It's unique enough to not be confused with any "New" England bashes, but has both an English-y and Warhammer-y feel. Plus Beer :::cheers:::.

I like the sound of the Albion Midsummer Bash, although I think the addition of beer would be good. You forgot to mention it .

Sheffield does sound good - suitably central (and quite close to me!). So do the bashes basically involve a bunch of people getting together and playing Warhammer - and maybe drinking a beer?

Also, Soth, Obi, you should definitely come!

Let's do it!

not that I'm offering to organise it, you understand...

Now that's a good combination.
Eat-Drink-Play.
Nice name. Is Sheffield town/city a nice place?
Put my name down for the 2011 bash.

Well, I have limited experience of Sheffield city itself (I live in a nice village on the outskirts), but in terms of prettyness, well, it's a grim northern city full of grim northerners. It's about as beautiful as a chunk of steel (put your hand up if you see the clever reference).

I'm not going to organise it. I'm 17*, so it's kinda hard for me to buy the booze in. Also, I'm a shy loner whose only form of social contact is people on the internet I'm lazy .

First of all, a venue is required, that's the hardest step. If it's a non-gaming room venue, we then need boards (build your own, best-board competition springs to mind). Afterwards it's just a matter of BYOB/food/money for ordering several large pizzas. Although like I said, if it's a midsummer thing it'd be nice to fit a BBQ in. Perhaps we could go for a Gazebo and trestle table affair. Either that or rent a pub with a beer garden. In any case, a fine array of quality British beers would have to be made available.

Perhaps the forum members who organised the other bashes would care to offer some advice. We in England could build on their ideas and not make the mistakes they did :icon_twisted:... :icon_wink:

Also, it'd be good to make it a campaign relevent thing, so we need to get our skates on, so to speak.

*Yeah, um 17 and talking about beer like it's amazing... to be honest I dislike alcohol and am just playing along with the forum's love of innebriating beverages, I have no intention of drinking them myself...
