Warhammer World in Nottingham would've been AWESOME, but I think they have an issue with unpainted models,

So paint your models! Besides, I can't imagine they mind unpainted models outside a tournament environment.

I think Warhammer World would be a fine choice. Maybe just for a one-day meet-up.

I know at one point they said you had to at least have your models primed.  However, they may have changed it to everything painted.  Would have to check their site again.

Warhammer World in Nottingham would've been AWESOME, but I think they have an issue with unpainted models, are there any locals on the forum who can corroborate on that? I checked the GW website and they said undercoated was the minimum, but I don't know.

Yep. I phoned them up to check and the GW chap confirmed that for me. Undercoated is the minimum standard.
Another possible problem for some of us is that (unless you're playing WAB) it's also GW miniatures only. Something they do not state on their website.

There's a way around that... someone just needs to bring along a copy of the Armies of Chivalry supplement and say we're all using "Holy Roman Empire" lists... :engel:

I think Warhammer World would be a brilliant venue, and if no one objects I say the bash should be there. Like I said before what we really need to do is set some dates. I know there are alot of people working, so having the event near a weekend would be optimum; also, there are probably already events going on there as well, so the hall would be "out of bounds" so to speak.

Checked out the GW "event diary" and found this out:
30/08/2008 - 31/08/2008 A tournament (held by the North West Warriors gaming club)
06/09/2008 - 07/09/2008 A 40k campaign weekend
14/09/2008                   Gamesday (yeah, not in Warhammer World, but some forum members could be going)
19/09/2008 - 21/09/2008 A "private event"
27/09/2008 - 28/09/2008 Call to Arms Specialist Games thingie

Also, I know I won't be able to manage any weekend between next weekend and the 30th/31st, so it looks like if we have the bash (and people want me to go...) it'd probably be in September or perhaps later. If it helps, Gamesday is on a Sunday, so we might be able to get away with a meetup on Saturday the 13th of September :|.

Also, t-shirts; anyone know anyone who can get a whole load printed up cheap? or is that just a silly idea? (having t-shirts made, not getting them really cheap... :icon_rolleyes:)

It's probably best to skip the t-shirts. I think it would be too hard to arrange.

September sounds fine! So, who actually wants to go?

I'd have to agree about September being short notice, and sadly I'm unavailable for selection on the 13th, but hey! I doubt we'll find a date when everyone who wants to be there can make it. Warhammer World does sound good - beer on tap is a great bonus and there are plenty of hotels not too far away if I remember correctly. Also, everywhere in Nottingham seems to be £5 away in a taxi.

The 14th (Games Day) would kinda be good 'cos presumably W.W. will be very quiet - that having been said I'm off to G.D. so couldn't make that either. Maybe those of us going to G.D. could meet up for an impromptu hello?
I feel my signature should say something witty and urbane, to indicate that I'm a stylish and elegant man. But I'm not. So it doesn't.
Instead it just says 'willies.'
Willies.

GAH! no action in the thread for 4 days!

To stop this post seeming like a shameless bump, I shall post more usefull information/ideas :engel:

Warhammer World is free on October the 18th-19th, December the 6th-7th and December the 14th (and a couple more days, but none sufficiently "Free" or consequential)

I'd like as many people as possible to go, so it's perhaps better it's arranged at a later date when people can make time for it. Due to not needing to arrange food or be kind to a wife (or girlfriend or anyone *sigh* I'm so alone), it's not really gonna require extensive, time-related organisation. BUT IT STILL NEEDS PARTICIPANTS !

Everyone (who intends to go) post a range of dates that you can make it to. It is an Englishman's duty to meet up with a load of like-minded individuals and drink with them; if the lure of some interesting battles of Warhammer aren't enough, I beseach every British person's sense of patriotism to make it to the bash. We need to show those Europeans (and Americans damnit!) how it's done...

(perhaps that nice speech will drum up support. Not that Katzbalger and Tam need it; they have shown sufficient zeal in furthering the cause, they get medals and cookies )

I live in Nottingham
Although i'm moving to Exeter. But I could combine a trip home with a bash. sweet sweet.

They say the minimum standard for models is 3 colours, but this is rarely adhered to (last time I was in Nottingham city GW, I saw three unpainted armies)

And the times I have been to WW there has not been anyone patroling around the gaming tables, so I bet they wouldnt notice/care about painting or GW models.
I don't care about the rules.

Pass the machete.

Nice! I love the progress that has been made. You can add me to the perhaps list, but I can only make 18/19 october, the rest of them aren't school holidays, and for the 18/19 I'll probably have to be 'ill' for a day too. Anyways, if this will go down in december, you won't have to add me to the list.

Bummer, as I was typing this, I realised I cannot do weekends, as I work Saturdays...

This could well change though, so fling me onto the 'Perhaps' list.

Okay, I feel I may have started to arouse some more interest with my PMs, enough perhaps to talk about what we're going to do at the bash.

Obviously, for a fair few of you guys, drinking will be involved; that goes without saying when you're in the same building as a bar (a dwarfen one at that!). In terms of what we'll be doing games-wise, I was thinking about a "campaign day" kind of thing; we could fight the "Crisis in Marienburg" in a day, or perhaps something else, such as part of it's aftermath. This approach combines both the regular amount of games of a tournament, with the fluffy relaxed-ness of friendly games.

If we wanted to really do the above properly, we'd need the whole weekend to do it in. Also, even if we want a less structured day, I know that I want to get a mega battle in as well as a few little-er ones, which would be hard to do in just one day.

Also, if enough people go (enough to intimidate the locals :icon_razz:), we might have to contact GW and ask for permission or something :icon_confused:. Also, they might give us some freebies once they find out where we're from... (GW are starting to like online communities[scroll down a bit])

I think everyone is sick of the stupid Marienburg campaign by now. I certainly am.

Otherwise, good ideas.  :icon_biggrin:

How about focussing on a different campaign-y thing, it's always nice to have thematic content in a battle. How about "Highjinks in Hochland", and have the nasty Nordlanders invade Hochland, with the inevitable provinces supporting or not supporting the cause.
