England suffers from the success of the Premier League.
Firstly too much money so players are so rich they don't really care - they lose and still get their £100,000 plus per week.
Secondly too many foreigners, so not enough English players coming through. [ Ooh why does that sound familiar
]
Thirdly conversely not enough English players going abroad and getting that extra experience.
It is embarrassing to see the passion of the Icelandic players, and the Welsh, and both Irish teams.
Just shows you what players outside the English Premier League are capable of - Hodgson has been ok but hardly inspired and never knew what his best team was - the players though were awful.
Rooney had a period before he came off where he passed the ball away about 5 times in 7 or 8 possessions - awful.
Sturridge did the same thing every time he got the ball, cutting back in on his left foot - did he ever have a go on the left wing?
Despite him not scoring we should have started with Lallana - every game he has died after about 55-60 mins, but his first half energy has been good, and he is a bit unpredictable.
I think I read Lagerback has never lost to England - he set up brilliantly - two central forwards on Smalling and Cahill, and not allowing Dyer any room.
We were crap and will continue to be so whilst we use Premier League players who don't really give a toss.
I am just glad I am old enough to have seen 1966
a couple of brief flurries since but it's mainly been downhill ever since.
