My ratings bombed on CMON, they are commenting on my grainy image quality, lol

I think I got wrapped up in this wizard, and need to step back and be subjective,

maybe a new camera instead of my old shitty £80 job!

Bo!

This is what I wanted , proper mean looking armoured Halberdiers with some decent sized rugged Axe Heads!

These are some seriously nicely painted models.  :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Only thing i would say is that on that latest photo some of the axe heads still have the arrows on which makes them look a bit chaosy for an empire army...just a suggestion

Other than that great models and great paint jobs  :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

This unit was recruited out of Nordland by a corrupt Elector Count, Fritzl Von Schminkler.

Fritzl was tasked by the Governer to recruit 500 fighting strength Halberdiers, and only promised payment upon delivery of the troops,

he cut corners and sought the employ of men from the North lands, beyond the Sea of Claws.

Paying in gold crowns, he soon ran short , when he caned his personal stash , he turned to using these troops to loot and pillage local villages.

Never questioning the origins of the weaponry, he even allowed a small unit to bring to bear Chaos Marauder Halberds, an act which in some states would have seen him hanged, but in Nordland, the governor was more than happy to accommodate these  rough edged thugs!

Very good paint jobs in this thread - very good indeed!

There are two things that annoy me in the converted halberdiers:
1. The weapons are so heavy the men probably cannot use them effectively as halberds. They would count as Great Weapons on my table.
2. Identical left hand sleeves, and greatly varied right hand sleeves.

Sorry, I just had to poke.  :icon_redface:

Number 2 will probably go away when these are painted, if you choose balancing schemes & colours. Number 1 is typical GW over-sizing, and will probably look good to most people who keep on bying GW models.

They are rather large weapons but if you compare them to a real-world halberd then they're about the right sort of height, maybe just a little weighty in the head. They do make a wonderfully striking unit though, I love how armoured you've made them, as it makes them look more realistic.

I undercoated with Skull White followed by a 100% coat of watered down vermin brown,

from there I had my base, eg. I then added boltgun metal to vermin brown for the silver, and washed those base areas, and for the gold / bronze i used dwarf bronze+iyanden darksun,+ gryphon sepia+vermin brown, and washed the gold areas, and for the wood i simply washed with 3 stages,

I need about estimated 10 more hours on this one to finish.

i read an article about using different colours with metal,

seems to work wonders

use either blue or brown as a mix with your boltgun metal,

it seems to give the model a whole new depth and realism

Amazing painting, the wizard is indeed awesome, but the Halberdiers really blew me away, definitely brutal!
