2000 Pure Cav List
« on: September 08, 2008, 01:44:52 AM »
This list of course will have all character and units mounted on barded horses except the Warrior Priests and the Battle Wizard as well, the points were not available and why spend points on barding that is otherwise free for the other units.

Please be kind as this is only my first ever list to be played with Empire but atthe same time, be honest and critical at the as it is what I am looking for with this list. Wanting to use a list with no seige at all even though I have many cannons, a hellblaster and have thought about the galloper guns. No steam tank will be used as that in my eyes is cheesey as there are only 8 in the whole Warhammer world I thought I read somewhere.

Anyways, I thought I'd add that all the models below are what I currently own and have painted as well so unless there needs to be some major changes, I'd like to keep the list as close as possible as if not needed, I'd prefer not to need to purchase any more models then I need to.

Thank you in advance for all that offer their help.

I am not sure what your local meta gaming is like but since VC and Daemons have come out 13 power dice and flying "big Baddies" are very common.  I have a very similar list that I plan on using to try and balance the new meta game.
So my concern is how do you plan on dealing with a HE dragon, Bloodthirster, or magic heavy VC list.  I just don't see the tools to deal with sufficently.

One suggestiong I might make is to replace the pistoleers with Outriders.  they certainly put enough shots out that big baddies need to think about going near them. I personally would use cannons.

Knock a couple of the little units down to size 5, perhaps even dumping their musician.  You are going to send them to get killed, so investing the 23 pts elsewhere is better.  Like into barding for your warrior priests!!!

In this list, you are massively dependent upon that big knight unit.  That means it needs to work, and size 10 isn't that impressive.  I'd want them at least 12 and maybe 15 (5x3).

I'd drop an entire knight unit for larger pistolier units.  They are your only counter to more powerful enemies and they are going to get shot at a lot.

The Doomfire ring doesn't make much sense in this army.  You need to be in combat instead of casting and you have a tiny amount of magic to begin with.  Get a scroll.

Mace of Hellstrum is wasted on a Grand Master.  An Archlector with the same equipment will do more damage because of re-rolls to hit and improve your magic defense.
You do not want to see a Master Engineer across the table giving you the bird.  With Pigeon Bombs, he is a killing machine.  Ridicule the robo horse relentlessly, but pay homage to the pigeon.

I would combine two of the core knight units into a second large block.

Do either of your priests have barded warhorses? they should!

I would concur with swapping the Pistoliers for Outriders.
