In any case, no comparison to the late Jeremy Brett - who, as I just discovered, already played in War and Peace and My Fair Lady.

I misunderstood you and hereby retract my statement.
No problem.

Yes, quite the actor, although Cumberbatch hasn't been too shabby himself.

Cumberbatch is a very good actor - but not quite for the original Sherlock Holmes character.

Not sure I'd call this a movie, it's coming out on PBS TV, but it looks very good ...

... seems they have perhaps put this one in the 19th century?
And here si a second one, yet only a wee bit different ...

Hmmm ... maybe thats the point of putting Cumberbatch and Freeman into the 19th century, to show that they can play those two characters from the original perspective of Conan Doyle.  Maybe.

Well Warcraft is finally hitting the big screen.

Luckily it takes place during warcraft 1 and not during the MMO nonsense.

Warcraft 1, after Warcarft 2 and 3 retcons, has the best atmosphere and background.

It looks good so far. I hope it won't dissapoint. Anyway I'm going to see Spectre next week and I'm pumped already.

@Warlord.

Probably due to it's origins as a warhammer game. :icon_wink:

Loved 2 and 3 as well. Lord Garithos was the best reason for getting the 3 expansion.  :biggriin:

Everything went downhill from there, especially the novels. :eusa_sick:

Thats just the teaser trailer Klatz,  the full trailer is suppose to release at blizzcon (today or tomorrow I think).

"BlizzCon 2015 is right around the corner and as a part of the opening ceremony, Legendary Pictures will be premiering the official trailer for the Warcraft movie live. Make sure you tune in to the free Live Stream on the official BlizzCon site or through DIRECTV beginning at 11:00 a.m. PT on Friday, November 6, 2015. You won’t want to miss it!"

So the Warcraft movie is the story of Warcraft I where the Orcs first come to Azeroth? Do you suppose we'll see the other installments later as well? And how accurate will it depict the game story, I wonder?
You know this won't bomb, since wowies are more hardcore than even trekkies, I think.
That said, I hope that the movies, when succesful and becoming serialised, will take down the dark path that kicked in with Arthas' fall from grace. I mean, sure, it wasn't a picknick when the Orcs first showed up, but things really got dark when Arthas burned down that village in a race against the Scourge's .... "recruitment campaign"

Lastly, this trailer sparked a thought in me that I hope will become truth: a rejigging of Warcraft I and II into modern games. I don't need them to be top-tier NASA-level computer requiring monstrosities, but please, let me us the RTS controls as we know them today. Left clicking to move, right clicking to attack, that is the future! If only I could reclaim that past glory with modern means.

They said it'd be pretty accurate, but they'd retcon out some of the shitty retcons brought in by the novels and WoW. A possible example is how Garona was always half-orc half-human, then a couple of years ago magically became half-draenei instead of human to suit some rubbish plot. The movie publicity stuff is back to saying half-human, so that might have been retconned, which would be good. But to be honest I haven't read the books (played War3 through all expansions of WoW though) because they're complete garbage, so there's probably a lot to change.

I imagine they are streamlining the plot.  Since its centered around Durotan instead of Ogrim.

Something that annoyed me in the trailer is when the humans charged at whatever they were charging at. Every goddamn fantasy film, and almost every historical film, they never bother to show anything that resembles infantry tactics or formation, just mindless charges.

The Peanuts movie was great.  It is exactly like the old Charlie Brown movies.  If you like Charlie Brown you'll love this new movie.

Agreed.

To be fair though, many armies in history really had no idea of tactics. That's why those that had, like the Romans, were so successful.

I saw SPECTRE two days ago. Really good movie and a nice ending for Daniel Craig. Waltz was awesome, as always, but I'm beggining to think that he can only play psychopaths...
