Yes, I have done the unthinkable and started playing Warhammer 40.000

Anyways, long story short, here are my first Imperial Guardsmen:

Yes, that's it, a can of Cadia Cola in the hand of the attendant. Carrying around a heavy bolter makes him thirsty!
The only good thing about 7th ed heads is that they look particularly inbred and superstitious which is perfect for Stirlanders

Another falls to the expensive version of checkers  :sadd:

Expensive version of checkers? I agree Warhammer 40.000 is more simple on the rules-level, but that doesn't mean it isn't tactically deep. Heck, the rules for chess could be written on a single A4, but still it has incredible depth.

I like in particular the shooting system, it is much more sophisticated than in Warhammer Fantasy.

So what do you think of 4th Ed. coming this Fall?

4th edition will be much more fun than the 3rd edition IMO. Much less rhino rushing and more close range firefights. And moving tanks!  :-D

I'm going to make a witchhunter army that should be finished when the 4th edition comes out. It's imperial guard (penal legion) based with some witchhunter units (arbites) to support.

I'd have to agree that the rules for 40k are a bit less interesting than the fantasy rules (3rd edition at least, I'm not sure about 4th edition), but the models are just as great and the background is much better than the WHFB background.

My overview of 40k

40K is as tactiaclly deep as choosing a powergaming army and rolling high dice. And whoever goes first wins usually. And usually Eldar win (most big guns).

Perhaps thats because England is full of powergamers, but thats my perception of 40k, and for the record I did play it when I was a kid :)
