1.5 hours of Hobbit bashing?! heck yes sign me up.
« on: April 23, 2018, 02:26:04 PM »
I found a 1.5 hour dismantling of the Hobbit movies, which I enjoyed more than the Hobbit movies.

Currently just finished part 1.

Although repeating what I'm sure we've all said, it's fun to revisit a favourite topic of mine, and it made me think about tonal differences within the same universe, which Marvel do manage (hello Guardians of the Galaxy) and how a tonally different hobbit duology directed by Del Toro probably would have been great. instead of fighting the juxtaposition of an adaptation of the hobbit book vs a prequel to LOTR movies.

aaaaaand now I want to rewatch Fellowship.

As exciting as that sounds, I feel like I've already spent enough of my life on the hobbit movies.

Although I have a dirty confession. Sometimes I go back and watch just the scenes with dwarf people. I both like and don't like the design of the various dwarf people and soldiers. While I can never truly defend some stuff, I do kinda like the look of the basic foot soldiers.

they actually discussed the designs of the dwarfs, and also the changing parts for some of them

the killi/tauriel love triangle was a late mandated addition by the studio added in entirely by re shoots.

The first video discusses the problems with the film.
the second video discusses why the problems with the film occurred, as well as other production stuffs.
the third video was centred around the labour law changes that came about as a result of the film.

I definitely enjoyed it more than the films!

Its not the video series I thought it was, I had it confused with something else.
While we're on the subject; anybody want a pizza roll?

Plinkett's Star Wars prequel analysis are amazing!  :icon_mrgreen:

Just as long as the movies though, so strap in.

I knew the love triangle bit was a late addition. it certainly feels like it to me. The second video does sound interesting though. Maybe I'll put it on this afternoon and podcast it while I'm working.

Although the third video also seems strangely fascinating. Not something I would have thought I cared about.

I love RLM, my favourite movie channel.

a multi billion dollar conglomerate literally bribing/strong arming a sovereign nation into rushing through anti labour laws which impact not only the specific industry it targets, but all sorts of work

it's dystopian sci fi irl, why would it not be interesting?
