After a long (~1year+?) hiatus from Warhammer, I am back to work on my army. And it is exciting. Since this is a plog, I hope you can excuse the threadomancy:

The walter is under way. And I have abandoned the sphinx portion:

That is a sweet war altar - really big and bulky!

If you are talking about the little Gryphons, those are from the Fortified Manorhouse, Watchtower, and Chapel kits. I also see Space Marine purity seals, modular movement trays, various books and scrolls from Flagellants kit, Laurels from the Greatswords, old style shields, I'm guessing those standards are Vampire Counts, and some other small bits I'm not sure on like the side banners. I believe the icon on the side that is cross with a skull in it is a Terminator Honour, but I'm not positive.

Thanks for all the good words everybody. Delthos has nailed almost all of the bits (glad that you saw the movement trays). The emperor got the screaming bell bottom. The banners are from chaos warriors. Man, it was fun reading that bit guessing game, so here are some more to guess:

My alternative to the Golden Griffon (Probably. Also, not yet glued together so it is a bit lop sided.)

Just a couple of other pictures that I never posted:

Thanks for the compliments! Any criticism/ tips on how to thin paints are welcome. In pictures I start noticing that my paints are still really thick. Here some new stuff:

Looking great.
I really like the idea of detailing your waralter with tons and tons of stuff, most war-altars end up looking a little under-detailed for my taste, yours seem certainly to steer well clear of that problem =)
If you are interested you should know that you can get cake-pillars that work well as greek-marble pillars for scale for your golden griffon.

I kinda hope the mushroom unitfiller is a joke? It seems a bit ad odds with the rest of your great swords, whom btw,. look awesome with their converted helmets.
I like the idea of a knight as unitfiller in the halbardiers, very invocative and makes fora  more interesting unit =)

Most wizards that I've met have been high on mushrooms like that.
Check out my painting-log C&C is plenty appreciated!

A small update on the war alter. My biggest worry with the new release was that I would like the new alter more than the one that I have been building. Well, the new girffon is great, but I prefer my old base to the new one:

Just a close up of the base, I think this is my favorite base that I have made

Thanks guys! It is coming along, a little bit each day. The top portion will be painted separately. As will the griffon, flags and Arch-Lector.
