The Big Gem on top
« on: May 29, 2012, 02:36:42 AM »
So I am painting an Empire Wizard and I am struggling with the big gem on top of the staff of the Gold Wizard featured here...

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440090a&prodId=prod20018

Now I did use this painting guide for the small gem on the chest...

http://www.bananaking.net/cento/workshop/paint_gems.htm

However, the gem on the wizards staff is big and round and it appears to be painted differently. I am looking to get a nice Green Colored gem on top of there. Does anyone have any advice on how to best do this?

Everything else about my model is done except for the gem on the staff. Will post pictures as soon as I am completed with it.

Ask yourself , what is real? 5 sense filtered reality is a very limited perspective.

Try paining it following the method outline in White Dwarf for the telescope lens on the big wizard tower Dreadvane Manse or whatever it called - I followed this as it is of similar size and shape if not as domed. Obviously substituting green for you model for the blue on the lens.

Like Mr CW I reckon you can't go wrong gloss varnishing gems for that extra sparkle.
