40K Editions and Codexes ...

Here are some statistics on 40K editions and the corresponding release of codexes ...

5th Edition ... 9 codexes in 3 years

6th Edition ... 13 codexes in 2 years

7th Edition ... 18 codexes in 3 years

8th Edition ... 30 codexes released over 2 years

9th Edition after pone year ...  8 codexes in 9 months, could track to perhaps 11 in first year

I kind of wish they just released all the codices at once. That way they can balance everything on release.

Not me, because I wouldn't want to have to learn so many codexes all at once, even if I only picked up the codexes I would use.  Besides, slowly over time means that I drift from one army to another, and I don't have to buy all the new upgrades at once either.  I could still pattern things on my own, picking up what I wanted and when, yet at the same time, I might never have picked up the Necrons like I have with the starter set this time.

I am so far behind in 40K that I now fear the cost to re enter. I’ll stick to the Black Library and worry about it later.
