Im bored. I would therefore like to look at some really nicely painted miniatures. Post the miniature or miniatures you are most proud of painting here. Not necessarily the best but the one you are most proud of. It doesn't need to be Empire or even Warhammer. Come on then, help me pass an hour or two.
I'll kick off with Gandalf. This is the only miniature of mine that has ever done even remotely well at GD. It's very simple but Im still proud of it.

Comes close to my newly painted hammerers, but I think he wins. My dwarven alter ego, Dunrik Ironhammer. Don't think the picture does him justices though :-(
-
I painted this for a painting competition. I came in 4th, but it's one of my favorite paint jobs, even more than some of my Empire Characters. He's from the VOR line of miniatures and he's a Union Special Forces Sniper. The photography isn't the greatest so you can't see the subtle variations in the weapons. I painted the rifles to look like Black Carbon Fibre casings and dark black metal parts. My lighting makes it all look the same.

Here is a rank an file unit that I painted in the middle of the night at the Westin St Francis Hotel in SF while attending a conference. They are fairly simple unconverted dudes, but I was really pleased with the yellow and the overall look of these guys.

Awesome handgunners there Lion. :::cheers:::
Also two big thumbs up for Gandalf and the now forgotten never before existed Valten as well.
This is my favorite model today:

My huge and hungry Tyrant, a former maneater of the Empire (true to his title...).

He got a big weapon collection? :-P

In the end, although I have a lot of models closely ranking as my favourite, it's gotta be my scratchstank :)

Here is my current favorite...I am working on painting an entire set of the Marauder MM90 chaos Dwarfs...which are some of the best sculpts ever in WFB...IMO... :smile2:

I am loving this thread. Sorry to sully it with this evilness. I'm not much of a painter, but I was pretty pleased with the pose.

This is the one people most often comment on though...

That chaos dwarf is lovely.
It looks like the grey isnt highlighted though.
Siby, add an arrow into the chest of the muso.
-
Surely it should be 3 if I'm gonna do it right... :-P

Blowing the horn of Ungor!

Hmmm...you're right the Gray doesn't seem to be highlighted...it looks more like it is in real life....perhaps I can add another step.
Also I have finished the base....I'll get new pics up soon.

-
do you have more pics of your dwarfs?
I've not seen these models, and your painting makes them look great.
-
@Blue - If it looks good in real life I wouldn't change it to make it look better in a photo. It looks great as it is.
-
Finlay,
If you don't mind looking around on a chaos dwarf site I have a longish thread about my quest to collect and paint this whole group of Chaos Dwarfs...it is found here:
http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8206
For those that just want an overview...here is a group shot of what I have done to date:
and here they are with a converted musician and one of the GW CDs added in for "flavor"
If you are not familiar with the MM90s they were produced by Marauder Miniatures (an off shoot of Citadel) in the late 1980s and are the best chaos dwarf sculpts ever produced...IMO...here is the SoL page that shows the whole group...24 total...I still need to find 3 more to complete my collection...

Cheers,
Blue
PS @Force...thanks for your input...I probably will leave the gray as is...too much else to do! and BTW your Gandalf is AWESOME! love that figure and your painting is GREAT!

Really like that Ogre model. Also how did you do the blood effect on the sword?
-
they are So much nicer than the giant hat dwarfs.
-
they are So much nicer than the giant hat dwarfs.
I couldnt agree more.
I also think that the Marauder Minis stuff was amongst the finest ever sculpted by any company. Certainly their Imperial Dwarves, their Ogres and a lot of their Empire stuff remains my all time favourite stuff both the few I do own and the massive ammount I covet.
If GW wanted to part me from my money, they would re-release them tomorrow.

Thanks - use Tamyia Clear Red with some black in various stages.

Hi,
Glad you like the paint job.
The rocks I used are resin from the warhammer basing kit http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat470007a&prodId=prod240001a

Good job

lot of cool stuff.
here is my fav. model. a custom made Beastmen Shaman, call Teddy Bear Shaman (if you look on the left of his staff you will see a teddy bear tied to it...that is Radar O'Riley's teddy bear from an old M*A*S*H kit which i feel adds to his evil nature :icon_twisted:)

8-)
-
That is crazy wicked Steveb, I was looking at some old model trains yesterday thinking about converting one to a STank, but yours is so cool I may have to steal the idea. (Then again, maybe not as my own skills could hardly do the conversion justice.)
-
Belive or not I have two old steam tanks in parts

Some great work here! I especially like Shadowlords ogre tyrant; great conversion, paintwork and character :::cheers:::
I guess these two are among those I am most proud of.

@ Warlord: I like your general very much, great conversion! Looks like young KF.
A bit of chaos here:

This was one of the first character models I got for my army, work very much in progress on him. I like the classic baroque uniforms of the older vampire counts so am trying (badly) to convert one to a human general. I recently changed the overall theme of my army so this guy has been on the back burner collecting dust as can be seen on the pics. Sorry for the poor pic quality (Hides my poor painting quality, lol)

A conversion based on the Mordheim Freelance. He has the best moustach ever...! ;-)
(I need to toch up the pegasus, to give it a little more depth, but I really enjoy both converting and painting thiis dude).

This is probably one of my most favorite of late:
I may have done other more technically impressive pieces, but at the time my goal was to do the best flesh I could. I spent quite some time on it, and I succeeded and got a result much better than I'd ever managed before.

From now on mine to :-D.

Nice, I can see why you dig it for sure. Great detail on the braid and the wood grain in the pistols. Swarthy face works a treat, and I like the highlights on the knee guard. Where is the figure from?
-
That's the Necromunda Kal Jericho miniature converted to hold a pair of flintlock pistols instead of the las pistols that it comes with.
-
These are pretty simple, but I really like the way they look. They are for the Descent Board Game.

These are both really effective paint jobs, nice work. Love Descent! :eusa_clap:

My favorite model is my Ogre Hunter I put together years ago, I wish I still had time to commit to my hobbies like I used too.

I realise this is a very old post, but I only just joined so :icon_razz:
My current favourite model is the Warrior Priest of Morr (why should Sigmar have all the warrior priests?)
He is part of the leadership of my old Sylvanian army (some of which can be seen in the background.)
