Nice! They look great!

Thanks sks! I’m really liking this army. I emailed GW to include the scuttlings with spiderfangs and added my voice to the call mi think they would be a natural fit and a warscroll on Azyr would be nice. 40 of the little wretched are inbound for this. Also I want the arachnaroch but individually they cost $70 but if you get the roch and the 10 spiders together they are $80. Doesn’t make sense but it’s the best deal. eBay with shipping usually tips the $70 mark so I don’t even bother. Konrad had discussed somewhere about similar prices where you expect a deal but don’t get it. If I triple down for the Roch’s I get 30 spiders for 30$ usually $120. If gw holds to that a bit longer I might make it 😸

Just thinking about getting some more mileage out of the models.  This game to me last night. Thanks to GP, I was able to come up with a dragon rampant warband out of Martoreans.  I am really liking the colours etc and I’m thinking of using them for rampant and a growing unit of free peoples from a city that has its traditions and lore from the Matorean world GP has described. He uses his as possible marines, mercenaries and home guard which is melding in the brainstem as something too good to pass on. I still have a unit of dwarf warriors, miners, and some characters plus a small unit of shadow warriors from the elf range plus some swordmasters and lothern from a starter box and some reavers. These guys can be grouped together to support a free city and to add to the strength  will be a temple of Sigmar with the stormcast that I would like to get over time. This would be a good way to tie together all my loose ends and also provide an expanding group for rampant as well. The ‘bad’ guys will be demons, creatures and things I can pick up on the way like centaurs, trolls, shagoth, and as these are so diverse, they can be for dragon rampant alone.
That’s the latest anyways.
More financial woe has me shorting out o the saxons for lion rampant for a bit. That sucks.

It much but a bit more thought on this. I have chosen the realm of light (hysh) as it has humans, aelves and duardin within the realm. No so far off as to pick a name for a free city - say ...Matorea (?) that is coastal with a realm gate that needs a permanent garrison of stormcast (that I will handpick and add later) plus a standing home guard of Matoreans with the three races in attendance.
First - the human platoon, then an aelvish group, and finally a duardin group. Here is a round up of available resources that I can use without displacing a dime.

And an assortment of available leaders.

Matorea is a Border Prince fiefdom in the Border Prince area of the Olde World.

Found some fluff!

Matorea

Location:

At the tip where Tana Dante meets Mannon’s Maw.

Population:

83,000

Commodities:

Salted Fish, Livestock

Army Size:

6,000 + 2,000 Peasant levy.

Troop Types:

Halberdiers, Harquebusiers, Pikemen, Swordsmen, Light Horsemen

Allied Units:

Mercenaries

Once allied to the great Khyprian Empire, the ‘Bishopric of Citta del Sol’ (commonly known as Matorea), was acquired by displaced Tilean Nobles sometime around 1800.

The Royal Madronas family of Matorea have something of a reputation as adventurers, and amongst other exploits have been associated with the famous Empire Averlander Albert von Wallenstein, their navy has taken part in several historical battles in the Black Gulf – notably against Greenskin pirates, marauding Norsii Longboats and even once fighting off a menacing Black Ark where the Black Gulf meets the Great Ocean..

On land their Swordsmen troops are a match for any in the Old World and they use their Pikemen to great effect against Heavy Horse charges

Ha!  Evidently whoever included that on the site it was obtained from, read some of my fluff posted for one or more of the Animosity Campaigns, no doubt.

They got my Matorean characters partly incorrect.  The original one was named Thaddeus Mardonia who transported from Matorea to Marienburg and back again, the Averlander named Albert von Wallenstein, my main character at the time of the "Crisis in Marienburg" campaign of 2201 (organized by folks here at W-E).  Here also being transported back and forth to Tilea were the mercenaries under Bartolomeo Sforza and his son Ludovico.  And Thaddeus made another appearance during the "Treachery & Greed" campaign (also W-E produced) transporting Ludovico's mercenary force as well.

And then there was also Thaddeus' great grand son named Thaddeus Mardonia IV, and his son Frederico.  These two were Matorean fleet captains that showed up in Animosity 3 (Araby), Animosity 4 (Cathay), and Animosity 5 (Estalia).  During these campaigns, Thaddeus IV and Fredericao escorted the military forces under the command of Wilhem Von Koschumberg's family of Marienburg merchants (descended from Adalbert of the Crisis in Marienburg era), most specifically the youngest son Francis Von Koschumberg to Araby, and then the middle son Joachim to Cathay (while oldest son Adam remained in Marienburg to help his father conduct the mercantile affairs of the family).

Some of the mercenary forces that were also transported included those under the command of Heinrich von Furstenburg (to Araby), a descendant of Albert von Wallenstein and the ancient Solland family of Von Furstenburgs, and the Tilean mercenaries under Octavio Piccolo (to Cathay), as well as those led by Maximillio Sforza (to Estalia) who was another heir in the long line of leaders for the Sforza Condotta Company.

And yes, there were naval battles played out using Man O'War, versus Bretonnians, Greenskins, and Dark Elfs.

And yes, the main units for Matorea were swordsmen with halberdiers in support.  Pikemen and light cavalry seem like natural additions to the feel of the Matoreans, especially since the town originates from Tilea.  You'll see when I post some fluff how handguns came into the picture in 2187.

Thanks Gankom!
I am really liking the fluff build up. I hope GP doesn’t mind his beloved Matoreans being wound into the AoS world but it’s just to good not to expound on.

Some scuttlers were caught and painted in the dungeon but were quickly followed up by another 24 showing up. No more base spray though do maybe tomorrow I’ll grab some.

1st batch trapped and painted

More scuttlers arrived but I’m too damned tired to finish em.
The 3 other bands of 10. Only 4 wayward scuttlers are out in the big world trying to make their way here.

Didn’t finish the bases but 36 scuttlings done. Can’t wait to try em out but I need the 4 lost sheep to make their way home. This month I’ve found I’m very tired. The pressures of RL making their unwanted intrusion into hobby life.

Yes indeed! The other four came in today but I’m so bloody tired from this heat wave, chances are they are gonna stay in their package. I havent looked at the scroll to hard to see what they do but I just like the models. After 40 I’m not sure how I feel lol.

The 4 wayward scuttles show up and ate paint as a thanks. This completed my Spiderfang Grots for the time being until the momentous day when 3 arachnaroch’s show up.

Edit: forgot to mention Nagash as the inspirer for this project. Besides the lack of painting skill on my part,  this was almost an entire rip off of his army that is elsewhere on a thread. When I first saw his spiderfangs and scuttlings together, it was all over but the crying. I even emailed GW to add the scuttlings to the Spiderfang faction as they go so well together. Anyways, thanks Nagash! This is a blander homage to your work.

Tree experiment. So I come to work today and someone has cut a bunch of dead bushes off on the sidewalk. Some would see this as an smiting mess, I see potential.
Nip a few tops and bust up an old floor tile and eureka. Glue and base em tomorrow.
