I adore meganobz!  I think they are about my favorite model besides bikers.  They look and feel awesome.

The issue with them is exactly what you mentioned, they cannot get an invulnerable save unless you play a special character.  If you use him, then they are pretty good.  The do have some advantages.  Under normal circumstances, they are better than nobz.  They are only 40 points, while a naked nob with a power klaw is 45 (and only AS6).  But adding a painboy (50 points) gives nobz feel no pain. If you pay 5 points for cybork, you get a 5+ invulnerable save.  This makes them slightly more survivable.  Also, you cannot play wound shenanigans as easily.  Add the fact that meganobz take forever to get anywhere (slow and purposeful) requiring a transport at all times, and you have a tougher time taking them.  Now a unit of 10 will ruin anyones day, but it is still a haul and they fight for precious elite slots, the tightest slots in the ork army.

Nomally slow and purposeful isn't utterly terrible if you have either rapid fire or heavy weapons to the squad, where relentless actually does something.  I suppose you could load up on combi rokkets/scorchas with mega nobs, but then you lose twinlink on your shootas.  Really they should be combi bigshootas!

I used to love Nazdreg but he seems to have vanished from the current ork book.  Probably because his gun was too overpowered for 4th edition!  Back in 2nd edition I had a small badmoon based army, but thats long gone.

Thanks for answering my orky related questions Philly.

In response to the tiny UK housing, I'm in awe of US houses, for the same price as a two up, two down you'd get about 4 acres of land stateside.

A simple little trick I guess is folding table in the garage (if you're lucky!), hang it on the wall. Of course, then you'd have to leave the car on the street...
I for one welcome our new flying cat overlords.

I have 8 acres and the 2500 sq ft house and it is valued at only $145,000.  This is rural Maine though and thats about average for a home.

Back to the meganobz, a great use for them is at mid level games.  A unit of 4 in a trukk is only 200 points.  It is fast, should have enough other models around to break up shooting, and can offload 16 S8 WS4 attacks with 8 wounds and a 2+ save.  Really a dangerous package and similar to suicide Terminators.  I would give a couple skorcha add ones.  Skorchas are really a great choice.  I never buy rokkits.

I would have thought the main use for meganobs was to take on hard enemy units who don't have a lot of power weapons and ideally have no powerfists.  Then just charge them!  Admittedly most of these units are not particularly mighty in combat, but some units can throw a bucket load of regular attacks against you, or have good armour but poor attack values.  Im thinking things like other orks, most eldar, guard, most normal marines, all tau units ever, most tyranids that are not MCs/Rending/Bonesword armed.  Actually there is quite a lot out there they are better than regular nobs against.

Obviously the main reason to use them is the great models  :-D  Thats often why I include things that are not supposedly brilliant!

Off topic:  By my rough calculations I have around 1000 sq ft space in my house and 1300 sq ft garden.  This is large for my town and especially considering it is only worth about £86,000.  Its only due to the "quality" of the area I live in though.  If I lived where my parents did, their house and garden was smaller than mine but the house was worth £150,000.

My second largest bedroom is my games room.  It fits chairs, a pc and 6x4 foot gaming table, all the terrain etc we need and most of my models are stored in there.  I couldn't fit an 8 foot wide table in there though due to having a strange shaped room, with the chimney going through it.

What I mean by all this is Philly is very lucky!   :-D

Too true!

I love the Ork Biker boss I got.  He looks amazing.  His right arm is a little short, but the rest of him looks so good it doesn't matter.

I will finish him and post pics by Saturday.

I like the trike, although I would prefer it to be on a 60mm base if I was playing against it   :-D

That's my waaagh banner model. I probably would have put it on that, though bikes have no real base size. The oly bases I have ever gotten in my kits came when I bought them solo. In the battalions they don't even come with those set bases!

I put my attack bike on a 60mm base, tho god knows how I am going to paint it now!  I really like how you have done mud grooves on the bases though, really shows them cutting up the grass as they drive over it!

My vehicles all have mud all over the lower 20% of them.  I like to think they go ramming through the terrain like the space rednecks they all are!

I have another 32 bikes to paint, but right now I am doing ork shoota boyz (I have tons of other models painted but a pathetic number of orks actually done).  I will then do another trukk.

I am using forge world rust and it is actually looking pretty good!

Love your stuff Phil!  You collect Orks like I collect Empire... gotta have enough stuff to field any possible combo.  I expect my Ork army will be collected the same way because they just have so many great looking options.  My weekend plans of assembling and basing the rest of my guys fell through when somebody ordered 18 pies for Saturday, so instead of light prep-work on Friday, it ended up being a crazy scramble to prep everything needed on Friday.

The Stompa looks great, I bet they are a bucket of fun to assemble and paint!  I kinda want to buy one of them next, even though I don't have enough stuff to play with, just because they are so cool.

Love the boss on the bike.  What an absolutely badass model.

My gaming room got turned into storage when we built the big kitchen in our basement, but now I have a 1000 square foot store, I'd love to take a Sunday and host a few people for snacks and carnage.

I love orks. They really do lend themselves to many styles of play. And the models are second to none. I you like the ramshackle appearance and mad max approach, they are a joy to paint.
