"Right then, lets get back to my fellow officers." Desmond replies, looking at the deck mistress. "I'd rather we try and keep things peaceful, but we're running out of time regardless."

"Any luck Desmond? asks Icarus with a slight scowl on his face. "I'm having a feeling that we're walking in circles. We really need to get to the bottom of this shit show" he adds, with a slight growl under his breath.

"Possibly, but nothing concrete." Desmond admits. Then he'll fill the others in on what he has leanred. Especially the possible meeting place at the tech shrine, as well as the general feeling they can be negotiated with. "The desk mistress' intelligence also suggested they use honor duels to settle matters, perhaps we can arrange something that allows you to take your anger out on them while also helping bring them back to the Captain's service."

He rubs his chin and sighs. "We just have to actually make contact of course, but perhaps this Tech priest Phobis knows more then he originally told us."

"So let's not waste any more time and contact this Phobis! I want this situation to be done with as swiftly as possible" Bane is clearly getting impatient and angry. "I'm still not convinced about the whole bringing them back thing. They are heretics after all..." he adds with slight growl in his voice.

"Ah but the Emperor wishes redemption for his people. I'd rather they die for the captain, then die fighting the captain." Desmond replies happily, slapping the hulking manner on the shoulder in a friendly manner. (Or at least as high as he can reach.) "Although your right that we've wasted enough time on this venture. We still have that dread pearl thing to find, and Jace's booze to drink.'

"Lets go confront this Phobis. We can get Ricker to start monitoring communications in the area, hopefully, or at least keep an eye on the tech priest."

@Everyone

"Alright then" Malik says "I supose I'll lead the way"

With that she waves you after her. Garruss stays behind in order to rally some house troopers, he will catch up later.

You all descend back in to the darkness, the warm, now very home like glow of the deck center long behind you. You can feel the shadows pushing in again, but with Malik as a guide, you don't feel that intimidated.

Soon enough to pass by the spot where you have your engagement with those Hand members. There is still blood all over the floor and walls especially where the grenade detonated.

"This where you got in to that scrap?" Malik asks as you walk.

"Aye, it is" mutters Bane, holding one of his bolt pistols tightly. "They had those muscled, armoured freaks... Damn me, for I never wish to meet such monstrosities ever again" he adds darkly.

Desmonds nods along as well. "And dogs. I'm normally quite fond of dos, but these ones were a bit excessive."

"I hate dogs, especially ones that are more fiercer than an Arcadian Carnodon" mumbles Bane, while scanning his surroundings and treading lightly.

Malik nods "I have heard reports of strange hunting dogs and hulking warriors but I never put much stock in them" she says simply

"Supose I'll have to have my Observers take a look at their holfings once we find them"

You all round the final corner snd at last come face to face with the Maintenance Hub. The place where your jurny in tge Lower Decks began.

You have three choices. You may wait for Phobis to leave on his own, to either ambush him or follow him. You may storm the Hub and take him directly. Finally, you could choose to lure him out.

(Ooc: sorry for the slowness guys. Been having some technical issues.)

Desmond would still prefer a fairly peaceful Avenue. Perhaps luring him out by saying we've found something. I know we left the engineers body but what about saying we have it and it has some interesting evidence?

With no objections,  you all wait for the man himself to come out. Seen enough you see a red robed figure exit the Hub and start walking away from you.

"Let's tail the shady bastard" hisses Bane through his rebreather. "Let's see where he'll lead us, eh?". With that he begins to move slowly after the man, while also taking a cautious look around.

@Everyone:

"I wonder why he didin't see us?" Whispers one of the remaining House Troopers "He has augs for eyes right, surely....?"

Before the trooper is able to finish his thought Petrus hushes him by covering his mouth with a burn scared palm.

You all watch as the supposed Enginseer stops and looks about for a moment before continuing on his way. You folow for what seems like forever, until finally you see him enter a small alcove. You pause and wait in the darkness. Soon enough, Phobis now robeless and...

Almost entirely fleshy! Matter of fact he is entirely human from what you can see. He has switched from his robes to tge sleeveless bodyglove of black and brown leather. What you percived to be an augmented head was rather a, seemingly, a mask, as Phobis' head is nearly bald.

You watch as he starts to walk onwards.

"What in the..." mumbles Icarus, while rubbing his eyes. "Wasn't he supposed to be heavily augmented? What in the Warp is going on here?" Bane's voice cleary betrays his disbelief at what he saw. After a few seconds he clears his throat. "Dosen't matter. We follow him. Stay alert, check your corners. Safeties off" he growls, checking his own Bolt Pistols.

[Rolls; 52]

Desmonds eyes gleam. "Finally! We're getting somewhere!" He replies to Bane, quietly. He'll then continue to stalk forward and attempt to follow the man.

@Everyone:

You stalks the man. As you pass the alcove, you notice there is a panel of sheet steel that looks roughly like a door

Player prompt: You have three options; you may enter and investigate, keep stalking or spilt up.

"You three" - Bane points to a trio of armsmen - "check that room". He looks at them intently and adds: "quietly". With a quiet command he signals to the rest of his party to move forward.

Desmond is sticking with Bane. He'd rather take the man alive and make sure he doesn't get riddled with bullets again.

GM Note: Everyone failed their per rolls! Just so we are clear that's 8 rolls!

@Everyone:

The House trooper at the front opens the door...

*Click*

Suddenly, all your ears are ringing, most of you are doubled over in pain, save Bane who is merely reeling.

As your vision clears you see a horrible sight. The first House Trooper who opened the door a is a shredded, very dead mess on the floor. Sheared in two at the waist, his organs are in tatters and various bits are scattered all abound the decking, his legs are about two feet away from the door but his torso is on the other side of the hall.

The rest of you are and riddled with shrapnel,  thankfully all of you are safe thanks to your flak or mesh armour. Bane is fine as is Carapace deflected whatever blast killed your friend. Though you are all showered in his blood!

Player prompt: You all have -5 wounds, also roll fear (Will)

Bane rushes to aid Desmond, while calling out to the rest of his team: "everyone, reporty warp-damn it!". With one hand on Desmond's shoulder, he points his bolt pistol at the smoking entrance, expecting a gang of maddened cultists to burst out through it at any time. "Ricker, we've been hit. They've booby trapped the doors, I've lost a man" Icarus rasps into his vox. "Can you scan the corridor ahead of us for any radio signals?".

(Roll 24! It'll take more then an explosion and dead people to frighten Desmond!)

Desmond coughs and picks himself up off the floor. "I am getting really tired of trying to be friendly down here." He say's dryly, leaning on Bane a bit. "If we don't get some answers soon, I'm going to start supporting Jace's idea of venting the whole thing and finding a new crew."

He'll make sure his gun is ready and focus on the hallway to make sure nothing sneak attacks from that direction.

"Scanning now, Icarus!" Ricker spun to face Bechansale. "Katie, can we get more auspices online?"

(Can someone make appropriate roll for me to do the scanning? And then report what I see to Bane and the others?)
