question about combining armylists
« on: August 18, 2017, 11:10:56 AM »
Im up for my 2nd game of 40k ever and in the proces of building a CSM armylist.
If i'm to use the deathguard army, my plague marines would count as Troops instead of elites, So it fairly easy to get a battle forged battalion detachment .
Am i allowed to use a worldeater armylist as well in the same army(bezekers counting as Troops aswell).
Tactical issues aside, it would be easy enough to build 2 battalion detachments

So this maybe is a silly question, but a battleforge detachment restriction is just that they belong to the same faction, in this case chaos. So if your playing an army consisting of World eaters and death guards, the battalion detachment could consist out of 2 unit plague marines and 1 unit bezerkers  and HQ's from either one?

The units in a detachment need to be from the same book. The army all need the keyword chaos to be battleforged.
You can't mix troop plague marines from the deathguard book and troop berserkers from CSM in a detachment

Also it is a massive fluff crime to mix nurgle and khorne in the same force.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

Actually, if you just call your detachment "Hereticus Astares" or "Chaos" you can include Death Guard Plague Marines as troops or Bezerkers as troops.  The Index allows for that.  With the new Legion Traits, you can't get World Eaters traits for your army unless everything in the army is World Eater (other than Fallen or Fabius Bile, they don't count).

is it? I always thought khorne hated slaanesh, and nurgle hated tzeentch and vice versa! And they were all "okayish" with the rest

I only have the index at the moment, so no new traits anyway. So being battleforged only calls for one faction keyword right?
But besides that, if i play the CSM index does my warlord determine the legion?
If my warlord is deathguard and my batttalion detachment required units are made up from deathguard, the rest of the units could be undivided or worldeaters (without bonusses)?

thanks for the replies

No, your warlord is just any legal HQ in your detachment.  You pick a key word that everything in the detachment has and you are good to go.  The easiest is simply Chaos.  You can include anything with that keyword and you still get to call it battleforged.

Sorry you're right about the nurgle/khorne thing. My mistake.
