Title: Show us your hero: army general, hero, a special character
Post by: DariusZero on March 17, 2013, 04:17:12 PM
And because any hero can be the army general, you can show not just the current general but also any other hero/champion, that might suit that role, even if he/she doesn't right now.  Like grandmaster, archlector, grand teogonist, captain, elector count, Karl Franz and other special characters, especially those.

In short any (painted) hero that is not covered by other show us threads.

I have posted this elsewhere, but I am unjustifiably proud of it (he did come second in one of the monthly competitions, I think - he certainly placed) so here it is again. Your fault, Darius (as Alexander was wont to say . . . )

Here is my Templar Grand Master - Count Vladimir Hunyadi of Sylvania-in-Stirland, member of the Order of the Dragon by birth and now First Arch-Warpriest and Templar Grand Master of the Order of the Eightfold Cross of Melite, Champion of Myrmidia, Beloved of the Goddess and First Son of the Maiden.

As usual, click for larger versions of the pictures (I have gone for small thumbnails with a couple of selected images at the bottom reproduced with larger thumbnails).

For some odd reason I always this Mordheim Captain for my general.

I guess its because he is not too fancy looking.

@Darknight: One of the best looking generals and my favorite conversion of that mini.
@Battlekruse: Your general is showing some character. No wonder he's in command.

And here's mine , Grandmaster of The Knights of the blazing sun, the old metal fig, that I finally painted not so far back - after it had been laying in the closet for some years.
This is a new pic, that I took with my new photo camera, so the details should be better viewed than in the old pic.

It's painted, though the base needs finishing in this pic. (It has been done in a basic way.) I am considering doing a more elaborate caparison on the horse, and maybe adding a cape on the general, but Haven't quite made the decision yet.

My General; Justius De'parque.

Really good one. I like your space wolf approach on the shoulder armor with the wolf icon. Is it converted anyhow or it's a regular fig?  GJ.

Thanks! It's mostly a stock figure who's name escapes me.  I added the Minotaur head to his cloack to make it the cloak of Anraheir and enhanced his hair as you have to have wild hair if you want to join my Cult of Ulrich army.  The army's sigil is the white wolf on a red/black background.

Isn't it Ulli from the Mordheim range. - with some conversion.

Ulli and Marquand I think - the other guy had puffy sleeves and a rapier.

I originally entered this guy in the witch hunter comp last year (or 2012? i forget). Anyway, I specifically refrained from making him as over the top as many witchhunters typically are, so he could see double duty as a hero/captain too. Could easily see him joining a unit of pistoliers or something. :)

That is awesome! Fantastic model. I am not familiar with the concept of "Knight Eternal" - is that GW fluff? I am reminded - with the big size and white armor and facemask - of Ser Robert Strong from the GoT stuff that keeps coming across my FB feed and which I just haven't got around to reading because people tell me it is all just death and sex and I get enough of that from the news.

Not sure if he's popped in any of the modern Empire fluff but he's certainly mentioned in the older stuff, specifically the Warhammer Fantasy Role Play Guide to Middenheim.

One of my favourite conversions...

General on Foot

I can just see this guy as Karl Franz on foot(maybe houserule the shield?) leading a 30+ unit of Greatswords; or you could houserule Greatswords to have hand weapons and shields instead and use the old Foot Reiksguard figures?

My general:

Where is this guy's Griffon from?  :? :?

The Burgomeister is great but the "simian friend" steals the show! I love the idea of giving him a shield and "tail sword"! I might have to include him in one of my units!

Nice conversion. Looks like Empire commander with Halberd replaced with Runefang and head replaced with Nuln armoured gunner, all from Forgeworld except the Runefang which is from the General kit.

That's not a 'fang. They have a little spiral rune on the quillons.

The Forgeworld Empire Commander with a different weapon and head.

@Sooner Sox: Which Inquisitor is that?

That is a conversion from the inquisitor with inferno pistol and power sword. Basically just requires a lot of cutting and scraping with an Xacto knife.

And the one thing all of these generals have in common, they are all toughness 3  :-P

But seriously though some of these are really cool.

Reiksguard 1485: Interesting pseudo-Scotch knight; also, in the picture of the Wizards, does the model with the feathered staff actually have one, or is he converted?

Thanks Noble Korhedron. The kilted hero was converted to be a knight of Albion who settled in the Empire after the Albion campaign.

In answer to your question, yes the shadow wizard does have the winged staff. He was just painted straight from the pack.

Let's revive this thread, shall we?
:biggriin:

So, the first guy is an ordinary GW Empire Captain.
I loved the style of this miniature so much that I had to buy as soon as it was released.

I got this second guy as a surprise when I was buying a bunch of used random miniatures. He was in a pretty bad shape, so I decided to fix him.

They both still need some finishing touches. I was thinking of trying out wet blending on those capes.
