a battle report. empire VS the high elves
« on: June 02, 2004, 08:16:26 PM »
salut!
I will state here the great deeds, performed by the mighty captain von rein, and the bloody toll he extracted from the vicious high elves.

turn1
the forces were gathered, looking at each other across the battlefield.
the enemy force was small but lethal, consisting of a host of spearmen, a platoon of the wretched silver helms, archers, and two of the dreaded bolt throwers. this "army" was commanded by one of their numerous princes.

gathered against them, were some of the empire's finest. a regiment of swordsmen, led by their determined captain horacius. bringing two detachments, one of handgunners, the other of militia. a line of handgunners, protecting with their body two mighty great cannons. and an inner circle squad, of the mighty reiksguard. captain rein led the army, he was not expecting the cruel games of fate to be followed....

the empire won intiative and the cannons fired at the bolt throwers. one misfire, and the other one missing totally. the knights manuevered to get out of the throwers line of sight. the gunners shot down 5 of the archers.
captain rein was charged by the prince, and the elves circled around the hill in the center, to charge the valnuerable flank.

turn2
the leader of the elves wore his magical armour and weapons with pride, the captian barely escaped a most bloody death...

but the prince's luck swiftly changed, and a proof for sigmar's justice was given.

meanwhile, the knights were shot down by a heavy bolt, losing three and deciding to regroup at the back lines.

turn 3.
the silverhelms soon charged them, and the knights were destroyed. it was pure luck, that the marksman managed to kill both of the thrower operators. the first cannon shot at the second thrower and destroyed it.
the captain charged the spearmen from the flank, but was driven back, and they continued forward. the swordsmen prepared to meet them...

turn 4
two crew men of the cannon were killed, and one was sent from the other one to replace the fallen members. meanwhile, the silverhelms pushed forward, and passed near the gun, on their way to attack the swordsmen from their rear. the militia and gunners detachment guarded the flank.

turn5
the cannon grapeshoted the silverhemls, but of all 6, only one was killed.
the silverhelms charged the militia, who stood valiantly but were forced back. only the 5 remaining gunners could stop the helms now! captain rein was regrouping far from the scene, the militia ran away, and one of the cannons blew up!! scaring the gun line who decided to flee.

the empire situation could have been better.

in the north, captain horacius continued his advance through veils of arrows from the wretched elves

turn 6.
bless the gunners!
the five militia gunners, a pitiful detachment, shot at the silverhelms, each made his shot count, and the five helms were killed.
at the sight, the captain managed to rally both the running militia and gunners, and the swordsmen charged for the final time.

the archers were slaughtered to the man.

victory, was ours.

the battle was over. and the bodies of the elves were strown around. none has esacped the vengeance of sigmar.

a fine game, luck changing hand from me to my opponent.
a dreadful display of leadership, as the knights did nothing but trying to charge the archers, failing, running away, and killed by the silver helms.

his prince having AS of 1, failing both wound from my captain by double two.

cannons which did nothing but misfire 4 times.

a marksman, who in long range killed noth operators of the RBT.

militia who hold for a turn against the helms, allowing the swordsmen to push forwars, getting out of sight of the helms.

and finally, 5 gunners from a detachment, who in one turn, shot and killed 5 helms.

a heart pounding game!!

your opponent is no doubt purchasing new dice.  (or maybe trying to steal yours!)   :largh:

I deleted the other thread in the main forum (sorry Skywing, you'll have to repost your reply here.)

couple of rules points:

war machine misfires don't cause Panic.

War machine crews can't split up,  the entire crew leaves to recrew another.

other than that, nice bat-rep, and good use of pictures
