Hey
For next 8 months I want to paint a 1500 army of Averland (Freeguild in Age of Sigmar).
100 – Freeguild General
260 – Von Zeppel’s Steam Tank
260 – War Wagon with battlemage
120 – Battlemage
280 – 10x Knights
130 – 5x Outriders
80– 10x Freeguild Guard
200 – 20x Handgunners
120 – Hellblaster Volley Gun
The list is not competitive, it's only for enjoy painting it.
At the moment I only have painted a handgunner unit, I hope you like it! BTW, the bases are not finished. I will add purple tufts and gravestones.

Stunning painting! :::cheers:::
-
really nice!

Love it! Very nice color contrast and neat clean style. Combination of old and "new" handgunners + forgeworld command group looks very natural :smile2:
-
Great coloring on these, and I like the green feathers! :icon_biggrin: :eusa_clap:
The forge world command team with the regular GW gunners is a good contrast between the figures. :icon_cool: :::cheers:::

Thanks for your comments!!

So bright colours. Those Averlanders are surely posh. :smile2:

Great job. Yellow is a very difficult colour to work with

Thanks for your comments!!
Yesterday I published an article with some tips to paint yellow and alternative colour palettes:

Excellent stuff, thank you for sharing.

I like what has been done with the "mercenary general". :icon_cool: :eusa_clap:

very nice :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

I find these breathtaking.
I am specially fond of how you've based them. The eerie green makes a fine contrast with their uniforms, marries them most excellently into the setting!

Thanks for your comments!!
The bases are unfinished. I'm going to add some tufts painted with purple-violet and some tombstones.
At this moment I'm working in a Blazing Sun Knights unit. These warriors not belong to Averland, but share the same colours (black+yellow), for this reason I've decided to use them in my army. The original miniatures are out of shops, so I've used the classic Reikland cavalry miniatures.
The colour palette is the same for Stormcast Eternals. Base with retributor, was with Reikland fleshshade, recovering colour with retributor again, first highlight mixing it with Liberator, second highlight with Liberator and last highlight 1/2 liberator and silver (model Air).
I hope you like them!

You did a great job on those knights.
I also frequently customise current kits into OOP ones.

Nice.

Very nice mate,
Q: How do you get that effect on the bases? What do you use for that grass? Is it some sort of filler?
-
Thanks!!
We have painted the tufts with purple (using airbrush).

Hi
I bring to you more news about this army.
I've been working in my own version of oldhammer Steam Tank of Von Zeppel. As you remember, this conversion kit transforms a Steam Tank into a modern war wagon with engineers on the top armed with experimental weapons (mancatcher, sniper rifle, etc). Since this kit is not selling and the price in Ebay is EXPENSIVE, I decided to build my own!
You can see the step by step of the conversion here: https://modelbrush.com/conversion-de-steam-tank-de-von-zeppel/

This easter holidays my brother (aka heresybrush) has painted it for me. For next two weeks I'll paint the customized crew:

Great conversion of that steam tank and fantastic painting on all miniatures here! Which colour(s) did you use for the black barding of the knight's horses? I like the way the light reflects from it.
Thanks for sharing your army with us! :::cheers:::
-
I love the conversion and painjob as well! Great to see ald warhammer alive and kicking. How are you going to work it out ruleswise?
-
Very cool STank!

Yes, very good looking Steam Tank, congrats! :::cheers::: :eusa_clap:

Looks awesome, but play-ability is a problem for the unit? It's a mixed unit. More coming?
-
More good painting here! :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
How was the blue on the mage's cloak obtained?
-
Top work , amazing colours

They can't do nothing!! The first idea was to built a unit of 30x Freeguild guards using different miniatures (greatswords and guards), but finally I've no time to paint them... so I only have painted 10 guards.
How was the blue on the mage's cloak obtained?
I've used airbrush and I've applied three layers:
- Vallejo Game Azul Mágico (721) + black
- Vallejo Game Azul Mágico (721)
- Vallejo Game Air Azul Ultramar (722)
Highlights mixing Vallejo Game Air Azul Ultramar (722) + Vallejo Ice Yellow (858)
Cheers

Excellent work, really eye catching. Love the Von Zeppell. :biggriin:

Really clean paintjobs and nice mix of old and current models. I plan on making an Averland detachment for my Empire army one day and this is inspiring...keep it up!

Beautiful work, just reminds me how much I need to touch up my Averland. Your paint job is much higher quality than mine, love your work.
