The Grand Army of Stirland - 10,000pts+
« on: July 24, 2019, 01:11:26 AM »
Hi everyone,

I posted this recently on a facebook group and thought I'd share here as well, this is my Stirland Empire Army including a lot of Dogs of War, I've included a number of photos but the rest can be found in links below since there is so many pics.

Back Story:

About 10 years ago I was working a lot and really didn't enjoy painting, gaming was definitely my preference. I didn't have stacks of time either so decided to have this army commissioned. It went from being models I liked/wanted to use as a competitive army to more just collect all the models in the Empire range.

The army was painted by Ibis Miniatures, if you knew the guys it was Joe Sturge and Andy Isherwood, both were well known and very good tournament players. Joes Dogs of War were featured in White Dwarf at one point with a battle report if I remember rightly.

I started the army towards the end of 6th Edition then continued on, though it didn't really get played in 7th or 7.5 since it wasn't an enjoyable era, however 8th was definitely where it gamed the most. As you can see there's a few chips and broken bits, the mages especially with their staffs have all broken off, I guess that's a sign of it's continued use, I recently brought them back out again for Age of Sigmar and had a blast.

As for what's in the Army, it's a rather long list, there's also miniatures I have but have never had painted, I have to keep a spreadsheet of everything since the army is so large. I think the only things I'm missing from 6th to 8th in terms of models is random characters, Forge World stuff and the metal Steam Tank variants, unfortunately there's little chance I'll ever get hold of the rest.

Very nice army! Something to be proud of!
And are their halflings in the Stirland force?

My guess it is a representation of their combined forces, and with various friends and allies showing up from elsewhere as well.

And they all sold their shoes for some extra money....
