Siby's Hochland Army Blog (Army Shot!)
« on: April 03, 2008, 03:24:42 PM »
Well, finally I have managed to get the scorched grass I wanted for my bases and can start completing my units. So here is the very first unit I have got done as a tester, my heavy weapons Free Company detatchment. Course they are just normal free company... I just wanted to give them some silly weapons .

More to follow as I complete units.

Try twisting the flagellant torch up to 90 degrees either clockwise or counter-clockwise. You probably want the flame look best from the front and back rather than the sides.

 :biggriin: Go Hochland!  :biggriin:

Nice to see some work from you.

I like the conversions, the best are the one on the far left and the one on the far right. The first looks mean, and the other looks cocky, nice personalities.

Hope to see more work soon.

Thanks

Good point about the flames... I did almost wonder whether I should even go a step further and tilt them so they face directly upwards... if I was going to reposition them anyways, maybe that would look more realistic...

And yes indeedy, go Hochland!  8-)

Well, I've got my next detatchment done now, it's been a little slow going what with the whole making a board and making beasts too...

Next thing I think will probably be some characters  :-)

The expression on the second crossbowmen from the lefts face look like he just witnessed something go horribly wrong.  :icon_eek: Very nice work as I said earlier though.

Well, I said there'd be some characters and here they are! (I was going to put my captain/general up too but when I saw the picture close up I realised I have a little touch-up to do before that one makes it to the forum).

In the mean time though, here is my jade and bright wizards (chosen purely because they fit the colour scheme of my army  :icon_redface:)

And my huntsmen, which I already posted somewhere else a while back because someone was asking about them, but I have since finished them to a degree which I feel more happy with.

So all things going well, the next up will be that captain and a cannon which I am in the process of basing. Thanks for looking.

Great stuff Siby.

Huntsmen are exemplary.

Jade wizard is cool...

The Bright wizard is hot....  , but maybe needs a wash to blend his colours some more ?

Good point Soth, I wondered whether he could do with something like that but I have a severely limited ink set right now... gonna have to stock up on some colour ones.

All I need now is that flaming monkey poo monkey that Steveb made and he'll have the perfect familiar  :-P

they are definately looking good, better than good really.

I fear that my poor old Sollanders wouldn't look so good under such close scrutiny.

I think I prefer the look of the Huntsmen to the Crossbowmen, but that's just my pref. I need to get me more of both!
I... I... I don't know what to say.  I think I like you very much.

I'd like to post more pics of this really but for some reason my camera vanished them, it does that. But anywho, here is my first cannon. (I only have one... but I'm sure more will follow in due time).

Those troops are looking good, bring on more, what brand of scorched grass did you finally end up getting? Thanks for sharing, steveb

After much hounding of the local gaming store (and a complete inabilty to get in the right stuff  :eusa_wall:) I finally ordered it from GW. It's their own brand and I'm glad I did because it's a little toned down from the normal scorched grass that I used on my beastmen and to me that helps with these guys keep the bases muted but not too boring.

The brown flocky stuff itself is tea bags I emptied out into a yoghurt pot mixed with a little crushed up oregano.
