Space marines are like the training wheels of warhammer. They are forgiving as all hell, yet awesome fluffwise and historically. They are a great army.

Plus, if they used Imperial guard, they would have needed to put more than 20 models in the box. Orcs can get away with it because those nobs in each orc unit can run aout 35 - 50 points. Imperial units don't really get that, meaning they would need loads of guard to fill the box to a 400 - 500 point level.

Also, I think two piece marines will look better than 2 piece humans. Powerarmor is easy to make look good.

Two of my opponents are buying a copy each and swopping models as one plays as marines the other as orks. It works out a fantastic deal for both sides.

Shame they didn't include eldar

Space marines are most peoples first army. I don't know anyone who has collected a 40k army who has not had marines as their first army. I am sure they exist but I know about 30 people whos first army was a flavour of marines or chaos marines.

Orks on the other hand are normally fairly difficult to use. I suspect most people who buy the box will be after the great deals they get on terminators and the dreadnaught.

Agreed, that may be a first, but when done battle worn, not even a grimey looking IG soldier comes close to looking as good.

Yes, you are probably right. I'm sure I've seen some I liked in the past. Maybe not painting the full army in the same colour would help.

Well, my first models were Imperial Guard, as well as them being my first army. I never played any other army, actually, and if I was going to it would prolly be Orks.

And I think that Space Marines look pretty sweet, but Chaos Space Marines are way more hardcore.

I have an eldar army, that is pretty big and I am looking at getting a nid army, with how good the new inks are, it should be a breeze to get them all painted!

I've always wanted to do a steel legion type Imp. guard army, I like the lemam russ, but mainly it's for the hellhound, I just think it would eat non power armored infantry, and I have to admit I'm a wanna be tread head, My father built the M1A1 tanks for 17 years, and it was just amazing to ride and see them go through their maneuvers.

Really looking forward to this deal, even though it costs about 130 usd, or 65 pounds here. It's particularily beneficial for me, as I play and could use a bigger force of both Orks and Marines.

Are you talking about the Assault on Black Reach box set, because it's only 60$ US, unless you meant you'd be buying two

Nope, one AotBR box in Norway costs 650 NOK, which is about the same as 65£ or 130$

Have you considered importing them? There is an independent UK online store where you can get a lot of stuff for about 25% less. You pay for shipment, but surely the overall result will still be cheaper.

Shit, if I bought you one here and mailed it, it would only run you $85 tops. Everything I mailed to Shadowlord only ran between $8 and $20, and it would be alot cheaper.

Not if you declare the value of the package it will not.

Cost me about $40 just to pick it from customs (the second shipment).

My first army was Imperial Army (the original name for IG).

That'll put it at about 300 NOK without shipping, and even with our customs(which are even more expensive than Swedish customs) it can't be more expensive than buying it in the store... Yeah, I think I'll do that.
