What I've done i the past, and I might approach it differently now, was to use a base of tin bitz and then do a heavy drybrush of bronze.  Then I did a very light drybrush of one of the golds, mostly to pick out details.

Easy and it looked pretty nice.  Judging by how great some of the painters on here I suspect you'll get a better method, but that was mine FWIW.

basecoat: chaosblack - tin bitz mix
drybrush: tin bitz
drybrush: tin bitz - brazen brass mix
highlight brazen brass
decorations can be picked out with a furter brazen brass - shining gold mix (optional)

oh and a chaos black - scorched brown mix drybrushed at the nozzle! makes your cannon look used

can't provide you with a picture untill next week unfortunatly

I just used about a hundred coats of burnished gold. The first layers were drybrushed on. This is the result, it's not fantastic but it's good enough for me. The picture isn't that good, but i couldn't find my camera.

Oki, not a hundred coats, but many!

I would say if you want to do a bronze finish over a black undercoat do a drybrush of tinbitz followed by a drybrush of brazen brush washed with a coat of devlan, with a final very light drybrush of gold. Although I am probably not the one to ask as I am painting my cannons black :)

Brazen Brass on a Chaos Black undercoat, followed by a wash of Gryphonne Sepia.
A couple of drybrushings of Shining Gold, Gryphonne Sepia, and a light drybrush of mithril silver, for that extra shine.
Mine turned out more gold/brass, rather than bronze though.

If you apply a wash to your cannon you might want to let it dry upside down, or facing upwards, or else the wash will just end up at the bottom of the barrel.

How to paint (if I remember correctly)
Tin Bitz drybrushed with  Brazzen Brass and Dwarf Bronze. Wash with Black Ink (Badab Black), re-drybrush with Brazzen Brass and Dwarf Bronze, Brown Wash, Re-drybrush with Brazzen Brass and Dwarf Bronze.
Design stays, however, according to my opinion, at least partially something miraculous. -J. Bakema (Architect)

Then I'd suggest:

    2:1 Scorched Brown/Burnished Gold
    1:1 Scorched Brown/Burnished Gold drybrush
    A brown or sepia wash
    Burnished Gold drybrush

Failing that you could put your hand in your pocket and buy some more paints!

Here is mine Middenheim Cannon

I keep it very simple.

First I sprayed it with white undercoat.

Then I used Enchanted blue for the wood and Mithril silver for the metal parts. I used Shining gold for the Imperial symbol.

Damn you Steve...damn you to hell  :icon_lol:

Simplest way to paint would be a black base and a light drybush of chainmail or gold...then it would look like every gun you see in any museum...paint the wood in your army's colours.

I imagine the synchronized firing of them would be a problem, but looks cool none the less.

Here are two of my cannons.

This one is my work, but I don't own it. I gave it away in the Pleasant Suprise Round 3.

Hola!
I used a mix with red, green, brown ang gold color. You archive a paint color very dark brown, then apply this paint into the artillery piece. Let it dry and then apply dry brush with gold paint until you like the golden efect...

Saludos y suerte con sus dados.
