Round 8 Conditions and Modifiers!
« on: September 06, 2005, 07:48:41 PM »
Make sure you read the War of Ostermark Succession Journal, Issue #2 to get all the necessary background information for this round!

Pirates at Kaltenbach!
Yemelya Uszkuinik and his Rivermen have defeated a barge-borne assault by Talabeclanders, but since, they have taken up residence in the mission-town, and are now taking quite a bit more reward for their aid than would suit the Knyaz Makari.

The Middenland-Kislev Alliance gains 3.000 FREE Control Rate points at Kaltenbach (to be added in the Round 8 Tally), but any battles they post there in Round 8 will suffer a -25% modifier.

Bechafen: The End Game
As troops become exhausted, supplies wear thin, and winter creeps upon the land, generals realize that the end of the war must be drawing near - and that, to gain a decisive upper hand, now is the last opportunity. All eyes focus on the one true place from which Ostermark may be controlled in the forzen depth of winter - Bechafen!

All battles, including Skirmishes, reported to Bechafen during this round will gain a 50% bonus modifier. In addition, half again the number of battle points scored will be detracted from the RIOT control rate. Note that Skirmishes remain at a base 400 points, and you may only report one per day, on top of your regular battles, as per Round 6 and 7.
In effect, the normal way of adding RIOT points is inverted to detract RIOT points instead, and now also applies to regular battles.

Hold the Burg!
The Stirlanders are in a state of rout. With his army falling back at all fronts, it is all Graf Martin can do to muster his few remaining troops for a dogged defence of the Höhleburg. As his generals direct the preperations for the inevitable siege, good tidings are brought - the Grand Theogonist is on his way to Ostermark, and with him comes the bulk of the Order of the Fiery Hart, as well as an ever-growing column of peasant rabble, weak in arms but strong in faith, rallied to Sigmar's cause by outrider priests with fire in their voices and gold in their pockets. The Stirlanders and their allies take heart at this news, and prepare to defend the Höhleburg to the very last.

All Stirland battles reported at the Höhleburg will gain a 25% bonus modifier this round.

This round will be tallied MONDAY, 12TH OF SEPTEMBER. After that, there will be ONLY ONE MORE, BRIEF ROUND, so get to it! The end game is upon you!

Call me a rules lawyer if you want.

Previously only skirmishes drove up the riot control rate.

The above post says that all battles now deduct 50% of their value and then it contradicts itself saying that the way to previously add Riot Control rate is now reversed to reduce it.

So if you post a battle report worth 1200 points - the Riots Faction will drop by 600 as well.

and similarly a skirmish of say 300 points will drop riots by 150.

What I meant was Total CR.

Can Riots at Bechafen end up with a total of -25,000 for example ?

With 3 factions posting there it could certainly happen.

If this is true then Riot Control points could artifically boost the other factions scores by virtue of the 50% more than total requirement.

Eg.

T-Land 1000, Stirland 1000, Middenland 1500, Riots -2500

Total = 1000, Thus Middenland wins because it has 50% more than the total. :)

No; CR will never drop past zero.

There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

eh ?

That hurts.

I have a program that keeps track of the score line for our faction. Little details like "can a number go negative or is it capped" is not automatic and needs specific tests in the code if its to be capped.

I listed the way the numbers would work if it could go negative just to show how silly it could get, not to muster up some advantage for ourselves.
