Taking a short break from death metal to listen to Taylor Davis on YouTube, an amazing violinist who started out doing covers of theme music from movies, animes (which I don't watch, but still beautiful music), and video games (mostly PS games, which I don't own, but holy cow is her version of
mega man 2's dr wily stage awesome, not to mention the assassin's creed covers), but in the past few years she's released two albums with original songs. Really considering purchasing one or several of her albums, although I'm not sure yet simply because of the pricetag (the albums themselves have a very fair price of about 15 dollars, but shipping them to Europe would double that amount). Digital versions aren't really an option for me since I mainly listen to music while driving. Might get one or more for Christmas though.
The way I discovered her music really went via a sidetrack- I often have Nightwish playing on youtube at work, and one time I clicked a Pretty Reckless video (who are awesome, by the way), and from there a Halestorm video (from metal to rock- not a big leap). Then I found a collaboration between Halestorm and Lindsey Stirling, who is a
dubstep violinist. Which is really a shame- she's incredibly talented and rocks whenever she does a non-dubstep song (phantom of the opera, my immortal, shatter me, video game covers etc). But the bulk of her work is dubstep, which I've never really cared for (although she does it in a way that is actually fun). And from her, I found out about fellow violinist Taylor Davis, who does
not do dubstep (fortunately), and have been listening to her YouTube channel for about two days straight now!
Think I might buy a couple of albums after all
