Elmore James - Stranger Blues - all time favourite from this amazing and underrated artist.  Responsible for so many blues tunes that are remakes. Can't say enough good about him. I think I was 18 when I heard john Lennon say on one of the let it be tracks - 'Elmore James got nothin on this baby' and that was it - the search was on. His music got me thru most of my down times including his ' tough times' sung by john brim which I could relate to on occasion.

Ah, the days when we thought that watching "Cruel Intentions" meant that we were grown up. :icon_biggrin:

(Not you, obviously.)

Cool song though.

Had to look that up lol! I don't recall that series but I must admit I don't watch too much tv. That song has it all for sure. Great piece.

I did not know they made a series!

The song was used nicely in the movie ending, when a coked-to-the-gills Sarah Michelle Gellar has her carefully constructed public image wrecked at her brother's funeral.

However, if you haven't seen it yet, there's no need to do so now. It's really not very good.

Miss read the series thing. They may do a spin off announced in 2016. I'll take your advice lol!

A Pale Horse Named Death - Die Alone

The lyrics are nothing special, but the bass is glorious.

Decided to check this out. I'm in the right mood for this.
Your right about the bass

The 1812 William Tell Overture - on CBC - we've all heard it but it is a masterful workout for the orchestra.

The 1812 overture of Tchaikovsky? Or the William Tell overture of Rossini? (I think they're both balls ;) )

I've been listening to almost nothing but Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake and Angel Olsen for nearly two months, now. But here is a sassy english lad who lives in Paris and performs under the name "infinite bisous" (actual song starts at 1:30 after a perversely long intro...):

"I have only wept three times in my life: the first time when my earliest opera failed, the second time when I first heard Paganini play, and the third time when, with a boating party, a truffled turkey fell into the water.”

- Rossini, allegedly

“His operas have beautiful moments, but awful quarter-hours.”

- Rossini on Wagner, also allegedly (but too funny not to be true)

I'm in the right mood for this.

I hope not! :-)

Ha!ha! More meaning I really liked the tune. I find music to be a great emotional seive. It purges stuff in me that would probably be detrimental. When I'm on the warpath there is nothing like Amon Amarth to ease the anger, Insomnium for melancholy, blues for the plain fight of life, progressive music for feeling deep and in tune with life and classical is just plain amazing for anytime. I love that quote of Rossini and the turkey. I can sympathize loosing such a treasure 😺

Nice. I like bits and pieces of his from all over but I probably prefer the 80s stuff too overall.
