Oops ... just noticed, I forgot to put the white bits (socks and the thing on horses' noses) on the figures! Will do soon!
Photobucket has now re-destroyed my pictures, so the first half of my collected works thread is no longer working again. To see my website version of the campaign thread, with fully functioning pictures, please go to https://bigsmallworlds.com/

I can celebrate Christmas now. December has been a good painting month and I can add a Warwagon to the painted things.
I just need to decide if I should give it "kislev wings" and some kislev minis, or just give it to Al-Ulrik.

And how the wagon used to look once I bought it:

Magnetize it, and then have the extras changeable to use the wagon for Kislev or Al-Ulrick.

Going to throw my hat into the ring this late, and declare a goal of finishing 15 crossbowmen that are mostly done.

I managed to finish my Brazen Claws space marine for the local GW stores painting challenge. Huzza to me! I 100% gave up on trying to freehand paint the chapter symbol, and my attempts to sculpt it failed as well. I'm just terrible at that kind of detail sometimes. I'm also not super fond of how the transfer on his other shoulder turned out, but its my first time using them so could be worse at least.

All finished and ready for the Christmas season.

Transfers are a skill in themselves, they are a good shortcut but require a lot of work to look really good, I think. Putting them on all my Space Marines was a learning process and a bit of a nightmare!

On track to finish my swords-orcs before Christmas day I think. My stretch goal is to finish a first unit of 10 archers to go with them (so that's 9 more models).

Setting monthly painting goals just became serious business. I'm going to a tourney February 23rd, and I have quite a bit of painting to do. While being painted is not strictly mandatory, there's a penalty for being unpainted, and hey, it's a tourney. The total tally of miniatures that need painting, under my current planned list (which might change due to training experience), are as follows:

25 Halberdiers
25 Halberdiers (not even built at time of writing)
22 Greatswords
15 Crossbowmen (almost done at time of writing)
3 Demigryph Knights
3 Demigryph Knights
2 Rocket Batteries
10 Huntsmen (only minor modifications need painting)

It's sixty days to get the whole lot done. A bonus stretch goal is to rebase the lot to use magnetic bases, something done for the purpose of tourney logistics in the first place. Anyways, here's goals for the upcoming months until then.

DECEMBER 2018 (or what remains of it)
15 Crossbowmen
3 Demigryph Knights
10 Huntsmen

JANUARY 2018
25 Halberdiers, built and painted
3 Demigryph Knights
2 Rocket Batteries

FEBRUARY 2018 (or the two thirds of it before the tourney)
25 Halberdiers
22 Greatswords

There, the gauntlet has been thrown.  :x

I remain horrified that anyone takes unpainted minis to a wargames event, they should all go play chess instead! ;) But that's a long list, so I'll wish you luck.

I finished my 16 swords-orcs and am already on my way to completing those 9 extra archers and a standard bearer (but not a standard!). They're proving to be pretty quick to paint - easy to say when I haven't even reached 40 of them yet!

May try and pop in a test-troll before NYE...

I also finished THREE trolls now, and the standard bearer-who-bears-no-standard.

Looks like I got a reprieve to my painting schedule. I had a testgame yesterday with my intended tourney army, and based on said experience, I decided to drop the greatswords and replace them with models I already have. That's 22 models less that need painting.

Current status is crossbowmen done save for basing, and huntsmen well underway. I think I will be able to keep the schedule.

I got unexpectedly sidetracked by various stuff today. Huntsmen still WIP, haven't even started the Demigryphs. Digging in for a long session to stay on schedule.

Looks for now like I won't make it. Huntsmen are still in progress, waiting for wash to dry at the moment. They turned out to be way more work than I thought. I thought I would just do quick fixes to rehabilitate models bought half-finished and poorly painted, but I got carried away  :icon_redface:

So I did some painting this month instead...

3 Genies
1 naga
8 golems
20 gremlins
1 pile of ball and chains

January I hope to paint 10 gargoyles and remaining 2 naga.

The Discworld City Watch is done. I intend to redo the photos at some time to show the finished items (and replace those currently held on Photobucket); and will put an entry in the thread when this is completed – hopefully by end of next year.

The local GW store is holding a Legions of Legend event in the first few months of next year (basically painting a few units etc. every fortnight and none of their dates fall at the end of the month. Due to a few problems I couldn’t enter last year’s event and I might have to resort to using some of that events un-entered units if I run short of time.
One way or another targets for January should be:-

12 Jan a Unit
26 Jan a Leader
2 Feb a Space Marine Hero

I still owe my friend a few space marines which he understands will get done eventually but probably not this month.

Well I'm quite pleased with how my December goal turned out. My Brazen Claw for the GW painting contest (minus the transfer) is looking pretty good.

Congrats everyone! It's been a fabulous year for painting and the goals thread has absolutely kept me motivated throughout.

Thanks to GP for taking over the running of the show! Fine job sir!
