Gathering of Greatswords
« on: August 08, 2007, 12:10:39 PM »
I think it would be great if everyone posted their Greatswords in this thread so that every visitor could see different paintjobs and styles of this great unit on one place.
If you like the idea please post your Greatswords here.
You can name the state they are comming from and maybe even wright the story behind them.
If this turns out successful I think it would be great to do the same thing with Knightly Orders.

Cheers!

Those are really stunning.  The banner looks great, and I love the detail of the Drum!

Yeah, however, some of us will be embarrassed to have our work compared to yours.  I mean you can see the whites of their eyes and the pupils as well.  Still I need to get cracking on my photography.

I'm currently painting mine for a tournament held this weekend. The pics should be here early next week if everything goes as planned.

WOW!
Both units are just magnificent!  :eusa_clap:

Superb paintjob MrChaos!

King, your Greatswords are totally different and very realistic. They are truly medieval!

Rufas, I think that as long as you are satisfied with your work, you shouldn't be embarrassed about it. There is allways someone who paints better then you (so what).

Thanks Captain Tineal!

I can`t wait to see more finished Greatswords here!  :biggriin:

Mine are still bare metal. :icon_redface:

Though for the people on this site that have been to the Dutch GT with me that won't come as a surprise. :icon_lol:

Great looking units, I hope mine will turn out as great as well.

Mine are also still bare metal. When I come around to painting them though, I'll post em here.

Hexenjaeger, those banners you make are absolutely fantastic!
As I stated before, I am a huge fan of your work.

Sharkbelly, that is well painted and very colourfull unit. I like the fact that you used only primary colours.
Just one thing dough, greatswords represent elite in an empire army so I think they deserve bigger and more representative banner.

Cheers!

Bogenhafen is one of my favorite Empire army painters, and this unit is solid indeed. The champ/captain? (the old mini) is the same as I use as a general, except he still has his eye-patch. How did you remove the lid and built it up again?

Firstly, thank you very much! I'll never reach the heights of Mika or Fiend, but it's nice to be appreciated anyhow. :icon_biggrin:

Actually the mini is based on a different model to the one you think...
The head is a heavily doctored one from the hairy head sprue - the one with the topknot.
I entered it into the forum's first conversion contest, link here -

This shows the component parts as well as the finished mini, it actually looks better now with the dullcote on.
Any other questions please feel free to ask.

Ahem, we mortals shouldn't speak so loud of the painting Gods...  :icon_lol:

Then again, they do not paint REAL armies (read Empire).

Cool, but the body is the same though even if it is a different mini.

No I ain't I guess (thanks). My next project is to remove a few "early painted" regiments in my army to closer resemble the goodness of many armies found on this site (I wanted them up fast so I could wage war, but now that I am done with the basic pieces, I am remaking and adding a lot).

Here's a couple of pics of my kitbashed Greatswords

They're built from Soldiers(only those bodies with Breastplates), Militia Swords and White Wolf arms and plenty of scrounged thigh armour plates :icon_biggrin:

I will get round to doing something with the banner at some point
