Me and you must be somewhat different - I've never even heard of a Fabia. So different, yet same hobby. Cool!

Im going to buy a new car tomorrow. A small SUV, as we've out grown the hatchback with two kids and the convertible isn't kid friendly.

I just sad to have to part the the Fabia, feels like im betraying it! Its done nothing wrong.

Anything set yet to buy? Or browsing? I can recommend the Seat Leon station lots of room for a growing family and a great car to drive!

Fabia is from Skoda, same category as the Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo (and same Volkswagen group)

We are thinking either a kia or a qashqai

I have a Kia Rio and it is good. I crashed out badly a month after I got it, and it repaired well too.

We are considering at sportage.  They are bringing a new model out next month so are selling off the old stock cheap, so there is a good deal to do.
The 7 year warranty is the main thing.
My head says sportage but my heart says audio Q5 or land rover discovery sports. Both just a waste of money really. Buying a brand. The Nissan is a compromise. Test driving both tomorrow.

I looked at buying a Toyota Rav4 last summer.  Didn't do it though.

Don't buy a car, use your feet, bike or public transport like I do. But wait, you are not living in the US, are you?
It is not enough to have no ideas of your own; you must also be incapable of expressing them.

Yes, it was premature for my plans.  Maybe 2017, maybe.  I had issues with Honda's customer service when interacting with them, wasn't impressed.  One Toyota dealer was on the ball, the other was less than what I'd prefer.  Subaru was also good with it's customer service.

Not in US, but buying the cars as have two babies/small people to transport around. My wife would love it if I told her to walk or get the bus.

Some people need cars. I couldn't do my job without one (different place every day, up to 150 miles away in random directions, and carrying enough stuff to fill the car). Utterly impossible without a car.

Same as my Roomster - I really like my Skoda/Volkswagen.

Depending on numbers id like to go to the bash in the audi, kathryn will need the new car. She wont drive the audi, nor is it practical for two small kids in the back.

Is the new car a workhorse or for pleasure/family? I have a passat estate which gets beasted and still drives well, plus loads of room, but I wouldn't say it's a particularly smart car. I did some work for serco (yah, boo, hiss!) And they used Ford focus - I have to say, each night, driven relentlessly, over 120k in three years and never broke down. Plus comfortable for cruising. Worth a thought.

The mini people-carrier vehicles are very good for families.

I can remember trying to take our two boys off on holiday in the UK in a Forde Escort in the early 90s and it was a nightmare getting everything in.

Then along came 'cars' like the Renault Scenic and the Citroen Picasso and they balanced space in a car without buying the bigger 7-seater jobs.

I must admit I like the look of the Qashqai. However as you say the Kia 7 year warranty is a big plus and again it looks ok.
One of the considerations of course is safety - I don't know how well built the various cars are if they are hit by something?

Bash-wise - at the moment we have a UK contingent of 5 so we will need two cars.
That does allow us to take 7 with your Audi and mine, or 8 even as I am sure Matt and I could both drive if we needed 2 x 4

Mogsam needs a push - he nearly came last year.  :biggriin:

I bought the qashqai. I got a pre registered one, so saved the VAT. Got the tekna, top of the line. It even parks itself.
The key a was okay but the qashqai felt a lot better made. It was £22k.
Bash wise the audi takes three max. But with plenty of space as boot is massive when the roof is up.
Let's try and get Mogsam though.need to tempt him with some HH gaming

needing a 7 seater car was one of the bigger against arguments when discussing 3!

Too young? Is there legislation there?

We're pretty set on just having one. We set a deadline to make a decision (I'll be 33, so two years time) and after that it's snip snip.

With 3 already I'd just go for it! The tech on it is pretty good these days, not so much chance of impotence.

We always wanted two. That's it now. I am tempted to adopt an older kid
, three-five, that needs a home.
Any chance of impotence is to much. My dad had one after my brother, he had to have an op in later life to sort out a problem cause by it.

argh! scary decision.

I jokingly talked about it on the taxi home from hospital with Isobel, the taxi driver had a bad experience.

I'm only 28, in the UK they tend to make you wait a bit longer. in case relationships split up and you want kids with next partner, etc.

The operation to fix impotence issues probably costs a lot less than raising another kid!
