Someone else said it here but, I'd prefer the pikes come from Tilea, Estalia etc and the Empire can hire them for their armies.

I guess it depends on how you see your Empire army in a 'historical' sense.
If you lean more towards late Renaissance, then pikes would be a must, if you, like me,  lean more towards late Medieval/early Renaissance, pikes don't fit so well.
And if pike units, why not also Tercios: pikes interspersed with swordsman and arquebusiers ?
