I take it that one of the guys in the trunk made an inane comment about a shoe shine box

I have some pictures from the game.   I'll try and upload them shortly, but only from turn 1 and 2 as I forgot to take pictures after that.

Game 5 was another loss. 1040 - 640 points.

It was an Orc and Goblin army with a black orc warbosss on a wyvern, a big block of black orcs (24), a big block of black orc boar boys (16), 30 night goblins, 2 level 4 wizards (an orc and a goblin one). 3 orc chariots.

So interesting things.

The general and his detachments beat off the black orc boar boys with the detachments being wiped out.
The general's unit then preceded to wipe the black orc boys off the table with the wizard.   This accounted for most of the 640 points. I also killed a unit of orc arrow boyz and 1 chariot.

I forgot that fanatics can come out of any side of the unit so dropped my peggy beside his night goblin unit. 3 fanatics proceeded to murder him very dead.

My takeaways from the game are

I don't think my opponent was aggressive enough. His black orc general on a wavyern didn't get into combat and while he manoeuvred his blocks reasonably aggressively he didn't charge much.

I should have kept my peggy focused on killing his general and away from the night goblins.

I'm wondering also if I should consider playing a refused flank more.

Mistakes were made.

Warhammer 40k Discussion / How Do You Pick a Topic for a Children's Book?
« Last post by Archie Nicholls on March 14, 2025, 04:37:31 PM »
Choosing the right topic for a children's book can be exciting yet challenging. Since children are naturally curious, it's important to select a theme that is engaging, educational, and age-appropriate. But how do you decide on the perfect idea?

First, consider your target age group. Picture books for toddlers focus on simple concepts like colors, shapes, and emotions, while books for older kids may explore adventures, problem-solving, or moral lessons. Identifying the right age group helps in developing relatable content.

Next, draw inspiration from everyday life. Many successful children’s book ideas come from common experiences—making new friends, overcoming fears, or learning something new. Observing kids around you can provide insight into what excites and interests them.

Another approach is to think about timeless themes like kindness, imagination, and courage. Stories that convey a meaningful message often leave a lasting impact on young readers. Adding humor or a magical element can make the book even more appealing.

You can also brainstorm by asking yourself: What do kids love? Animals, space, fairytales, and adventure are always great starting points. Mixing real-world elements with fantasy can create a captivating story that children will love.

Once you have a few children’s book ideas, test them by sharing them with parents, teachers, or kids themselves. Their feedback can help refine your concept and ensure it resonates with young readers.

Picking the right topic requires creativity and an understanding of what excites children. What are your favorite themes for children’s books? Share your ideas and experiences!

Yes. I was lucky enough to nab a Witch Hunters box off ebay a while ago for a fairly reasonable (comparatively) price.

Have been working recently on some the Tabletop World buildings I have had sitting around for near two years now.

And a town notice board

Gaslands Car Crew for Zorena

It's getting hot in the backseats.

These Gaslands car crews were quicksculpted in a single sitting, without wire skeletons, for a friend that we can call Zorena.
