Some More Averlanders...
« on: February 28, 2010, 12:45:37 AM »
Hey All:

I took some more shots of my Averlanders and posted them in my Gallery:

http://s879.photobucket.com/albums/ab358/Lion-of-Flanders/Averland/?action=organize

Tulio Campagnolo, Tilean Engineer

The First of Many Thruds

Averland Swordsmen

Mont West and the Westerners

Snooker, the Artillery Mascot

Cannon

Mario, the Bike Messenger

That's silly! Playin' with il' statues, pretendin' they're fightin'!  Why not just get a bunch of real goblins and lettem whack it out?

Was that cyclist in a White Dwarf a while back? It looks excruciatingly familiar...

Yes.  A looong while back as in 2001.  The original Averlanders won Best Army at the Seattle GT in 2001 and had a few shots in US White Dwarf.  Mario (Cippolini) was made as a messenger for scenarios at the GT.  People dug it and it started the whole Euro Bike Racer thing with my Empire armies.

Wow, that was way back. I was in High School! Well, like all your stuff, it is fantastic.

It's an old empire metal cannon from GW, 4th/5th edition.

And with an awesome paintjob, like everything else! :eusa_clap:

Extremely well painted!!  *jealous*
MArio is one of the coolest cats I´ve seen! Make sure he doesn´t get snuffed.

They still reek of horse shit though, like all Averlanders...
Hobbits are stupid, Talabecs are thieves and Averlanders reek of horse shit.

In the mid 80's Thrud was a comic strip page in White Dwarf magazine.  The comics out a few years ago are re-drawn strips by the original artist Carl Critchlow.

I included the Thrud in this post as an objective marker for the Seattle GT in 2001.  After that, I started making a point to include Thrud in some form in all of my subsequent armies; Orcs, Dark Elves, Ogre DOW, Cult of Ulric, and Cult of Slaanesh.

I'll get the rest of the Thruds posted eventually.  I have a few more Thrud ideas that need to be created as well.....
