Anyone seen the current predator movie? I've heard decent things about it but nothing that's blown my friends away.
I've heard its pretty much a Shane Black movie.  Its a comedy with action.

I saw Johnny English 3 the other day when I had a night off work. Its Rowan Atkinson doing what he does best; make an ass of himself.
I know this film might not be everyone's [exploding] cup of tea but it was certainly better than the last 'comedy' I saw which was Oceans 8

For what its worth; the bit at the end where he's getting around the castle in full armour reminded me of the often derided Blackadder 1

Yeah, I quite liked Ocean's 8, and didn't understand the hate or disrespect it got.
It is a perfectly fun movie, and sure it has women instead of men, but I don't see the problem with it.
Perhaps Sandra Bullock is trying a bit too hard to be cool, but I don't think she did a bad job.

We watched Oceans 8 here a few nights ago and liked it as well. I'm not a fan of heist movies to begin with, but I thought it was fine. The various characters were all pretty good, the plot was a pretty normal heist thing. It was good.

Watched Gods of Egypt last night. I thought it was pretty good. More to it than 300 thats for sure. I think where they went wrong, is they expected people to know a bit more Egyptian mythology. They might have benefited from a few paragraphs of text at the beginning to set the scene and peoples animal forms, etc. I guess they expected people to find out as you go, but it relied on people being invested.

Obviously there were issues with ‘whitewashing’ and Gerard Butler’s accent, but people didn’t have a big issue with it in 300 did they?
Are there many top tier middle eastern actors in hollywood who could bring a crowd?

Yeah, the fact they left out the part where Horus jizzes into Set's salad to win the throne was infuriating.  :engel:

I want to write an epic about the Osiris myth but I feel like having humans with animal heads just wont seem relatable to readers.  I even went to London's British Museum to look at old artifacts for research.

So instead I am doing one about a cult dedicated to goatmen in Appalachia. I even visited Emmitsberg MD to do research. It was a foggy autumn day too which added to the spookiness. There was a Freemason lodge on their main street and all the leaves (both fallen and still on the tree) where blood red.

20 years ago, i used to waste countless hours playing a now obscure ancient Egyptian themed PC game called SCARAB X. I learned a great deal about Egyptian mythology than i did from any old, pedantic teacher i had at the time. I'm also fond of the jokes in THE LAST HERO about Flatulus; the crocodile headed god of winds, Bast; the feline headed goddess of things dragged in and left half-digested under the bed and another one i cant seem to remember or find who is the 'default' animal headed god of pyramid building societies [or something like that]

This looks funny ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brjkpRBpFnc

Saw the trailer with my wife about. I am so glad you posted this as I almost did but became distracted.  My wife is a huge Sherlock nerd (read all the books when she was a preteen) and even she wants to see this. The part with the bees and Watson's reaction to them sold me on this movie...I just hope its not the best scene int eh movie.

A thought did occur to me.  What if Sherlock was an idiot and the only reason he is venerated in Watson's writings is because Watson is dumber.

Euw.  That is so bad, couldn't get to the end, probably didn't even get half way.

Sigh Outlaw King was not as interesting as I had hoped. Sure I knew it would be kind of crappy with okayish costumes but I really wanted the scene from Bannockburn with the axe to the head deal and was denied it.

My wife is keen to watch it because it features Chris Pine’s pine.

We saw it last night and were disappointed. Many historical inaccuracies aside, we just found it boring. Also considering his charisma in Star Trek, I thought Chris Pine had very little in this.

Also, how can they cut out the second most important Bruce brother? Edward Bruce was one of the main generals AND DIES AS HIGH KING OF IRELAND! (well technically he had the title at least.) and he's not in the movie at all.

Guys I need you to talk me off this ledge. I saw the trailer for Detective Pikachu and went in thinking "Pfft, what is this garbage. Make a real pokemon movie" and by the end of it... I'm actually kind of interested. It's got Ryan Reynolds! And no matter how much garbage Green Lantern (Which I actually kinda like) or deadpool-in-The-Wolverine was, it looks okay.

I watched Solo on the plane to america.

I liked the first 80% of it, then it went to shit.
