Wow, that fig's sculpting is so much better than the previous one. He just doesn't look Empire to me though. Of course this was from before GW had really solidified the look of each faction in The Old World.

I would agree with delthos I would say he looks little like a breton , maybe he is a merc man-at-arms. Brilliant standard of painting as per norm, can't tell from the pic but have u given him eye brows if so tré cool

Lovely miniature, full of character and great paint job. The shield looks like it dwarfs him slightly and hides a lot of the miniature. It might look better with one of the small round ones you have used on some of the other older miniatures although it could of course just be the angle  :-P

Very nice! :eusa_clap: I'm really enjoying seeing these classics painted up.

You haven't painted the leather armor straps though

Brilliant miniature, love the character in this one with his mullet. He's all business up front and party at the back

He looks like he just stepped out of a Johan and Peewit album. Maybe he is even Peewit himself, all grown up?

I don't think it was an issue of the imagery being "solidified" so much as Bretonnia and Empire being too chronologically similar in earlier editions of the game (as well as WFRP.) One was based on 15th century France, one was 15th century Holy Roman Empire. When 4th edition came out, they just notched Empire up to the 16th century, presumably for a bit of a different look.

There are some 'collectors' who will pay extra for the models in the blister - and keep them in that state.

Not my idea of collecting ............ or Chumley's I suspect.

It is really interesting to follow these projects. While some of the models may look a bit odd, they still put the current range and the concept of the Empire in a new light. Some of them are very nice in their own right as well. This last one for example. I also like the colours you use for them.

These guys are a definite Militia regiment.

35 strong + 5 Halflings will give me a nice 40 man unit

I've been looking at how GW used to paint their old 1980's Fighter F Series ranges in White Dwarf.

They used to use Blues, Reds, Yellows and Greens all in one unit, which is quite bizarre but also quite liberating for a painter!

I'm definitely interested in collecting all the old Fighter Series.

If you look at the original White Dwarf listings, around White Dwarf 85-90 the Fighters which appeared in adverts were later amalgamated into smaller general listings, in the catalogues from 1989-91.

Originally they had fighters, paladins, dogs of war etc.

Later they listed them as Adventurers , mixing up the models , hand picking some from earlier releases, like the scenario stuff - tragedy of mcdeath for instance...

I would anticipate needing about £1000 to collect the entire range.

It has to be about 200 models.

here is a thought for you!

If you own enough of the 1980's - 1990's Citadel Fighter Series, and the Marauder Series, then paint them all; you would have enough different troops to be able to simply hand pick 50 of any troop type for a battle.

You would effectively have 300 - 400 painted metal models with various weapons.

Eg. I need 30 archers , no problem.

I need 60 Swordsmen , easy

etc
