Those Heroic Fighters of the Known World are some of the best from that era.  Moon Duke one of my faves, and you've done a great job on him

Yeah I also really like those old Heroic Fighters of the Known World (hoping for something similar in the future from GW, but will probably not happen). And you Moon Duke looks really nice indeed, nice crisp colours.

I've just created the sickest 4K list for my next game vs Chaos, lol

i'm laughing my pants off!

3 HBVG's, 2 engy's , Stank, 3 Cannon, 230 State Troops, TGM, BSB, 2 Wizards, Walter (general 18'' bubble), Lum , Cel H, 3 chicken, 5 V Knights.

I'm going to basically pepper him at range, stank his biggest horde, then make him grind it out with 3 large units of buffed state troops!

I have high hopes for my nasty cheat list!

Rynkar ! 1982

Some Empire Wizards step beyond their level of knowledge and invite the dark gods to taint them , often hideously mutating them in the midst of a high power spells, showing them a glimpse of the warp, and leaving them physically scarred and horribly twisted !

A solemn shadow of his former self, he walks the halls of the Collegium wearing a golden mask, hidden under a cape.

Rumour has it that he tried to out do another wizard in a show of strength , and went too far !

GW in the 1980's would leave clues for collectors to sculpts which were duplicated with minor differences.

It adds intrigue and collection value.

The tale of the two Barbarian Princes for instance.

One of these sculpts only ever appeared in a White Dwarf listing, but was never in any of the 80's official catalogues!

Enjoy

These guys go into battle half naked but still bring helmets? Man, I dunno if they are weird or have odd fashion sense.

At any rate, I like the paintjob you did on them.
Now go! Ride towards the sun atop these noble steeds
You're our spandex heroes, now fullfil your destinies
And so we turned and rode beyond the castle walls
with shiny codpiece armour that doth cradle our chivalrous balls

That is true for all of Chumley's quest - I find myself re-evaluating minis I have seen on ebay in bare metal, or already have  :engel: buried in a box in a dark cupboard, and have passed over as I think they do not seem very attractive ............. then he comes along and makes them look stunning.  :biggriin:

I think that is because Conan had a big influence on those sculpts. Look at the old Savage Sword of Conan comics and you'll see that he is regularly dressed just about the same. A loin cloth, a big belt, a necklace, and a helmet.

Ha ha! I love the bright blue/turquoise spot colours on your barbarians, completely unexpected, good choice.

I also noticed that the female wizard in the same series as Rynkar was named Samantha Phox.

Nice job on Rynkar, I almost used him as the Changeling in my DoC army. I've always thought of him as a Chaos mini to be honest.

I have to agree with Midaski, you have a real knack for bringing the best out of miniatures I've never particularly noticed before.
