It is a really nice mini.

When I saw it online it looked a bit weird, but I would recommend buying this one guys

I don't like this finecast , it's too fine detail, almost so much detail the model is cluttered, not smooth.

Agreed. But maybe it is also because of the way it is painted - too many details that are highlighted. A more "monochrome" appearance would be much better, I think.

I can definitly see the highly detailed forgeworld models not being suited to your method of speed painting.  As Fidelis said, I think if you had gone for one color on the armour it would look a lot less cluttered and busy.  Can't fault the sculpt though, it's a great model!

Cheers

I've always found that forgeworld models are much more sharply detailed and harder to paint (I suck at painting anyway) I would have gone for a simpler paint job but I like basically everything but his armor.

I actually really like his armor - it looks like some ancient bronze fountain, a very cool look.

That's how I feel about a lot of recent GW models, like the Demigryphs and the Wizard Wagon. All that busy detail sucks any joy out of the painting experience. If I was starting them both again it would be one colour, drybrush, wash and done. I'm putting hours of work into what I'm sure will be a very average looking Hurricanum atm :(

Interesting aquatic feeling result on that mini though, high marks for that.

Lietpold is far too cluttered with detail, even if I had done all the armour in one solid silver colour with one wash, it would have looked cluttered ,

back to 1987 for me next !

I think black might work. And, after all, he is called Lietpold the Black.

Very nice! Is she a recent purchase? eBay was very keen to push her at me a few weeks ago. It was never on the cards - my collecting ambitions are much more modest.

I saw a rare chance on e bay 3 weeks back ish,

some1 listed her and had painted just base coats, but quite thinly, so i saw the chance for a rescue paint job and finished the job :)

usually if it's half painted , then u get the model cheaper also

Timing's about right. IIRC she was around £40 - so about £35 more than I'd pay for a mini on eBay

It's a harsh one, if you look at the 1986 , 1987, 1988 townsfolk and travelling players collections it's another 100 models  :eusa_wall: :eusa_wall: :eusa_wall:

Capacity needs expanding , i've now filled 10 shelves of a large glass cabinet, ~ 60 cm wide, by 30 cm deep and 200 cm high ,

also a wall cabinet 10 cm deep 60 cm high , 40 cm wide, with 5 shelves,

==============

Gonna get me a second wall cabinet and do 10 man small skirmish trays , 3 per level, 210 men more capacity :) :eusa_wall:
