No it's something far more immense

Two imperial codpieces?

Alright Chumley....I have a few questions about your painting system....I've copied the stages that you posted over the last couple of days and I hope you wouldn't mid clarifying a few things for me.

Stage 1 . Skull White spray.

Stage 2. Balor brown / water 50/50 base coat.
This is applied to the whole model right?  is this the stage that is presented with the first picture?

Stage 3. Wash using Blue+Red+Brown+Black GW washes, + 50% water.
Is this mixture applied to the whole model?  or only to the areas of the model that will end up that particular color?

Stage 4. Base with Sand.

Stage 5. Paint bases.

Stage 6. Purity seal the whole lot.

Stage 7: base coats. Keep em thin.
For this stage are you using thinned paint? or still using inks?  I assume that this is the color on the cloth, flesh, wood etc?

Stage 8 : Wash.
with what?

Stage 9. Highlighting.
Again is this with thinned paint on the flesh/cloth/wood etc?

Stage 10: Base detail/Flock etc.

I would appreciate any insight you can offer on these questions....I spent last night rearranging my Lead pile and the size of it scared me....so if I can follow your lead and get thru units faster that would be great.

Keep up the good work!

Yes, yes, GW paints thinned down a bit - normal base coating layers, wash with what ever colours suit, highlighting with GW paints + usually white added in etc,,,

first of all thanks for the advice...ill certainly be giving this a go soon....the problem being that i need to buy more inks...and no one around here carries GW paints.  do you have any experience using artist inks or vallejo inks?  i think i can get those locally...otherwise I'll be waiting on mail order.

ironically i'll probably use halflings for my test run too.

yours look fantastic...particualrly en mass!

cheers,

They do look great! i really like the halfling barbarian. The green and red looks good too.

They sort of remind me of robin hood's merry band some how.

I use a  mix of vallejo inks and GW washes. The vallejo inks are quite nice, but i find their red is not very dark, and typically have to use the GW baal red as well.  The inks have much higher pigment than the washes, so they often need some thinning.  It also sometimes helps to mix in some vallejo matte medium (or even matte varnish) with the ink and water as the inks can sometimes dry a bit glossy.

Nice halflings, chumley.  You have a closeup of the guy front row centre with the gun?  Not sure I have seen him before.

I've located a guy owning the lord on horse!

I don't think he is open to selling, but I offered him £150.

When they have won then they will not be bidding next time - well maybe not.    :engel:
