My plan was to hold a centre ground using 3 units of 30 Sea Guard 5*6 buses....

Harass his flanks and large hordes with , chaff , whilst raining down 130 ish archer shots and 3 bolt thrower shots per round,

My 3 units of 10 Queen's guard at St 4, and my 3 characters wiith magic bows or upgrades also st 4... multi shots...

Also hold up my flank with 20 Flame Wardens on 4++ saves...

Target any nasty trolls or monsters usng my 20 WHite Lions with flaming banner,

Pick which hordes to let through to my front line and which to hold up with chaff (chariot, 10 swoord masters , 3 eagles, )

If he hits my line early I flank him with my uber Ancient dragon Lord Combi, ...... If he gets bogged down, i will advance my choppy units and flank advance attack with the Dragon,

My only concern is how 9th edition has increased the cost of Sea Guard massively, but they are so solid a pick i dare not swap em for spears..

Well what can i say?!

I set up the board , so he chose sides... And gave me the side with the ponds, lol..

Perfect to place 90 sea guard behind, if you want to attack them , then you will lose your rank bonus in the watery ponds muhaha..

Ok so I went 1st,,,, owing to having much less units to set down...

The Queen's Guard took out 2 giants, boom, but I lost my Wizard due to some horrifcally unlucky set of rolls..

He advanced, my turn 2 then decimated him with shooting, taking down 2 giant Squigs, and numerous other units..

My Lion Chariot made man of the match, literally smashing everything and surviving to round 5.

The Wyvern's are terrible now, no armour save lol..

My eagles didn't really do much, they were ineffectual..

The Ancient Dragon Lord smashed everything but was twice left open to Spear Chukka fire from 7 chukkas.. And eventually died in T6.

The Flame Wardens were invinclible, holding up the entire left flank until they eventually folded..

Also incredible as a 10 man unit, the Swordmasters , with 2 attacks each ,,,, glass hammers , massive hammers , with llimited armour , but they sting !

Final tally after T6 , Elves had 2916 left on the board, O and G had 1600

Boom !

Elves win again .

Changes next time roud, im taking the rending banner for Arm Piercing on my Flame Wardens..

Also may well drop the Eagles, and take 10 more Swordmasters , or another Lion Chariot !

Those Lions love to eat !

Looks like there's a steam tank on the table in one of those pictures.

It looks like a wonderful table top! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::

Didn't see the pump wagon. I have the lower half of this unit but never seen the whole thing together. Now I can finish it 😸

Hi Mr.C
Are those the PVC battle mats from the company in Salford. Mounted Dragon Princes, that's what the elves need and the old metal one are nice figures. Great photographs.

What's this thing about a 'Levy' rule? I don't remember a 'Levy' rule, and I have the 8th Ed. hardback HE book....

Generally fighting in one extra rank, using spears. One extra rank in addition to one extra rank, from fighting with said spears.
So it's what they call the rule adding an extra-extra rank to the attacking HE in close combat?

I think so, yeah. Also it works with HE Archers, in that they can shoot from one more rank, I think.
