By Rouge, do you mean the French film Trois Couleurs: Rouge? :icon_wink:

I thought it was the best star wars film since empire.

I think revenge of the Sith is actually the best, but from a non-fan movie critics point of
View... this one's actually a really good film; sort of like bond meets the guns of Navaronnne meets Darth Vader.

Very impressed, I am.

Just seen Rogue One.

Original trilogy = 9.5 out of 10

Everything in between = 1, 2 or 3 out of 10

Rogue One = 9 out of 10.

Thought I'd be very specific about what's inside my head.

Film's a good one.

I thought I would just split it into a separate topic, so we can also mention spoilers...

Too much CGI Tarkin for my tastes.
A bit too much jumping-around at the start. Probably didn't need to show it all.
I dont know why they insisted on killing the father when the machine was already complete - surely capture and torture would have been a better option if they didnt know if he was a bad guy or good. And that way they would be able to tell any weaknesses.
Use of Darth Vader was well done i think.
The last set piece was excellent.

Just saw it.  The first half is rather droll.  The second half more than made up for it!

I rather liked CGI Tarkin and Leia.  Was also cool to see Red and Gold leader.  I'd rank the final battle above any star wars movie battle ever put to film.  But that's just me.

Me too.

Thats true. Takes some warming up.

And the wanted guy with a death sentence in 12 systems. Not sure why there was a wampa on Jedha with the freedom fighters though.
I just think they overused Tarkin a bit. Leia was very pale. But not too bad.

Yeah, the battle was excellent. Like combining the best bits from the deathstar infiltration, hoth battle, and both endor battles.

I wish the rebel base was on Dantooine instead, but i guess it would look too similar to the new resistance base.

I knew Leia was CGI on sight ... But I had no idea Tarkin was. I was coming up with theories like they'd found a lookalike, taught him to act and then played with his voice. So the CGI worked well for me.

Am I the only one in the star wars fanbase who can no longer stand Ashoka? She outlived her usefulness years ago and keeping her around isn't adding anything. Dave Feloni is trying really hard to turn her into the star wars equivalent of Wolverine

I did spot the Ghost knocking about in the space battle though, so she may have been there  :icon_twisted:

Was on a landing pad in Yavin Base too!

On "Snips" I would have liked that she died in Rebels with her confrontation with Vader rather than being his equal.

Also did anyone else notice that half the scenes in the trailers are not even in the movie?

The trailers totally put me off this film.  They make it look like just another steaming pile of generic storm-troopers-are-shit-rebels-are-godlike Star Wars faff.

Nope, not quite. A lot of rebels die in this one. Some guys in the cinema after the film were calling it 'Band of Jedi' (as in like Band of Brothers). The rebel grunts really did look like WW2 US soldiers, maybe crossed with Vietnam, except for the aliens. An entirely satisfactory number of Stormtroopers die too, of course.

Its basically the dirty dozen in star wars.  Go see it.  The trailers (as I've stated before) are mostly not in the movie.

Have to agree with many of you, this is one of the best Star Wars films to date.  Tarkin was one of the better CG characters based on a living human, but we're still not at the point of crossing the uncanny valley despite some of the world's best and brightest doing what they can for it.  Leia was terribly bad in the end,  I would have thrown out the scene or reshot it without CG leia.

@Grutch
Maybe just a shot of her hand holding the disc. Maybe "less" would have been more?

My only major complaint is that squid monster. That thing was TOO suggestive. AND the overuse of sticks as weapons. Someone contact Retroblasting!
