Mogsams Dwarf Goblins. Update:- Hammerer!
« on: April 10, 2009, 05:59:23 PM »
Having decided on a whim to make a fantasy stompa this is my progress after an hour. Current cost: Nothing, stole it all from my fathers workbox, hit a snag seeing as how I have no screws so can't properly secure the leg system. (which i'm quite proud of by the way.) I'm looking for ideas for arms and equipment, most of the body will be covered in greenstuff as wood. Should I cut out the back and put a goblin "pilot" in? Should I also put one in the "exhast", it just occured to me that a clockwork monstrosity wouldn't have a need for exhaust.  Looks quite funky though.

You're nuts. I suggest a gatling bolt thrower for giggles myself.

Have at least one of the two arms be melee orientated, and I'd suggest using a chain with a large ball on the end. With spikes.
I thought he should act responsibly and just kill himself.

I did pick out some chains in case, I figure they should both be combat orientated. The legs are some wierd bolt thing that can expand so when i've settled on using them they will fit in nicely. It really needs the orc teeth to make it less like a disney film character really lol.

Well, first off, have you seen this http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38952 ? I hope so. Maybe something that guy did can help inspire you.

I do think considering your army, it should have some form of ranged weapon. Perhaps not particularly potent, as it will be mainly melee, but say a single bolt thrower, slightly lower powered (say strength 5 or 4), with a shorter range? Your entire army is opponents permission, so why not.  :icon_mrgreen:

Also, it must have a 3+ armour save. No more, no less!

That guys far more talented than me! Plus mines actually not that big, it's fantasy afterall.

So more like this sorta thing? Like a one shot belly cannon? 3+ seems fair, it'd have a fair amount of wounds, i'd give it the Chariot rule of auto die strength 7 but my most common opponant is Empire so it'd be pointless to even use it.

I wouldn't make it one shot. I also disagree with you even thinking of the chariot rule of autoexploding. I would give it impact hits. Either d3 or d6, but not too many attacks (4?).

A cannon could work, though what you've drawn seems more like a camera  :icon_wink:

Having a pilot at the top reminds me so much of Labyrinth. I loved that clockwork giant with the crazy goblin in it.

Am I the only one looking at your gobbo/dwarf threads?  :engel:

You could have a full goblin team crawling all over it, making repairs.  That would look kind of cool, I think.

I could see you running much like a Steam Tank. Maybe change the grinding in CC to the arms swinging?

This looks so fantastically demented, I love it. The belly hole look right? That would be where the kannon goes.

A scale shot, just to show how big it is, it's quite alot bigger than I thought it would be!

Crew/boiler? compartment, my hands there because clear body + clear table + clear compartment = no photo.

That's one scary hand.

The Jaw needs something else... maybe needs to be larger/more pronounced. Also, give it hilariously overstated eyebrows.

:icon_eek:     ...... ke (first shock)

ahum.

Does it have the same hight as a Giant?  hmmmm

mechanical giant? as a sort of pumpwagon like construction? (the pumpwagon crew could be a great propulsion system in the body of the stompa )

succes with the project  :::cheers:::

That reminds me of the clockwork gnome army idea I worked on for a while.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Big enough jaw now?  The log hanging from the chain will be made bigger with GS as will the "armour" wooden plateing. The "ears" will one day have screw heads comming out, although the screws I have on call are too fat, it would take ages to cut through them. I'm considering the "eyebrows" but they would be hard to attach, the plastic doesn't like sticking very much, it's very fragile. I'm in love with his legs, those expanding things are really hydrolicish! The feet will have clawlike toes to ensure kicking death!

Its the first bit of armour I put on it, otherwise it litterally looks like a deodrant lid with a head... I could move it down and right and mimic it on the otherside as some sort of aesthetics?

The one attached to the body is the odd one, the one on the lid is fine.

To break up the monotany on the body (I know you said you would do greenstuffing, but just an added bit) perhaps you could try putting some orc/gobbo shields around it as makeshift armor?

The 2nd jaw is gone. I can't really do the shield idea, mainly because I don't have any shields. This army is 100% recycled from things I made in about 2001, the bits box has since been sold! I only have a few odd bits left over, mostly Black Orc bits and Pistoler weapons. I do have lots of hardware stuff and a hardware shop on my street so thats why he is mostly made out of screws etc. Most irratatingly i've left my greenstuff in England. So I can't even work on the 2nd arm until I buy some more in Cardiff. Which is a tad annoying.

Perhaps someone in the trading forum would have something for you?  I would pass some greenskin shields your way, but it's my wife's stuff and I don't think I should just be taking her stuff.  May cause a mini war.

I really like that name! Infact I think i'll steal it for the actual name, with some kunnin' gobbo aliterationz.  :engel: I might look into the trading forum, i'm tempted to cut pieces out of the body instead though, make it more ramshackle and less flat, then greenstuff the rest. I still have some plastic around to convert into bits I need!

You are an insane visionary genius! It looks exactly like goblin craftsmanship!

(That was meant as a compliment  :engel:)

I also love what you've done with the cannon in the first two scale pics.
