Do It Yourself Guns
« on: March 19, 2019, 02:08:03 PM »
These figures have appeared in various stories and reports but I thought I would put new pics of them here to show the variety of guns you can cobble together with plastic tubing, guttering and scraps of bits.

Voland's Venator models which came (very cheap) with no lance-arms, turned into pistoliers:

Plastic dwarf warriors turned into marching thunderers:

Home made Jezzails:

Leabelchers armed with brass model ship cannons:

The title of this thread triggered me.  :-o  :engel:

The pistoliers look great. Can you explain what "guttering" is, is it just a generic term for filling in with greenstuff and such like?

The 'guttering' was hard polystyrene sections bought from the same stand as the tubing for the barrels. Literally pipes and guttering for architectural models. I think the company was called 'Plastruct' but my memory might be playing tricks on me. I cut barrel lengths from the tubes, then laid them down on shorter lengths of the guttering to look like the barrels and stocks.

Yup, Plastruct is one of the many manufacturers of such things, intended for "real" scale models, I think. I've bought tubing and rod and I-section pieces to use in my rubble strewn Space Marine bases. Really handy!

Plastruct as all kinds of cool things for buildings and scenery.

I just picked up a book on the history of warfare [written by Bernard 'Monty' Montgomery] and its interesting as there is a lot of artwork that depicts early firearms. The modified Venerators remind of that artwork

The venators do look like they'd fit in with a renaissance army. I'd never have the patience to scratch build that many guns though.
I agree with the inhumane treatment of animals.
