Hehe, sadly not a lot that is here in America... all my curiosities are tucked away in England waiting for my next trip. Everything we have here is pretty much essentials. I lined my suitcase with them, I dread to think what customs thought... but they let me through

You should see what his wife has on her Wood Elf bases... it's like they have heard of conventional basing, thought about it, but decided they didn't want to travel further than the kitchen!  :biggriin:

I agree that the Bright wizard looks a lil too faded, I know that's the idea - it's just hard to imagine a bashful Bright Wizard, you know?

I don't know when I will get to paint these fellows but I suddenly realised recently that I have a bunch of spare body parts lying around and I've seen some people kitbashing greatswords. I love the current greatsword models but diversity I love even more so I figured I'd have a go at it and made an extra rank for the 10 I already had. They are probably not as armoured up as they should be but I don't mind so much, they'll most likely be towards the back... except that middle one... I'm tempted to make him the champion with that pose  :-P

Anyways, I still have some bodies left over so next on my hitlist is a scratch built Helstorm. I'm in the idea and bluetack stage right now but when I get it glued together I'll post a WiP.

Probably not too much fully painted stuff for a while what with painting up Wissy's Wissys and making our board.

(just to give an idea of how they look next to the real deals)

Nice poses. But they definitely need their gaps filled in - and not just the obvious gaps either. You might need to add some extra ... something, to make the plastics stand out slightly more than the metal versions - not that I don't like the metal versions, but your plastic ones have REAL character! It'd be great if you push those characteristics more. Like that dude with the Bret Archer head, he looks like a real mean as looking veteran, but his waist to his left side seems slightly unfinished, and empty. The scroll is a nice touch, but maybe add an extra big leather belt or something... just to fill in that tiny little space (sorry I'm a perfectionist with these little details, so take my comments as that; the models are fine as they are ;) ).

No no, that's cool. I know there are still the more obvious holes to fill still. Haven't got round to those... maybe I will try adding some more too. The metal greatswords do have a lot of detail and extras on so it'd be cool to get them closer... if I come up with something I'll post more pics, thanks for the comment  8-)

Those conversions are great. I have to admit I am still surprised at how much better one can make plastic conversions look cf. the metal models. They seem to have more 3D, naturalistic poses, and you end up with a unit of individuals, which is fantastic.

I have never included great swords in my Empire army. In fact, I only recently got round to putting bog standard swordsmen in, after years of pretending I hadn't seen the whole TVI argument for their usefulness on the field of battle. Now I might well see if I can come up with a kit bashed unit of my own. (Although I have about 16 projects on hold at the mo', so maybe it'll be a while. )
Photobucket has now re-destroyed my pictures, so the first half of my collected works thread is no longer working again. To see my website version of the campaign thread, with fully functioning pictures, please go to https://bigsmallworlds.com/

Nice Greatswords!

I must ask, whats the head piece of the 3rd picture down, of the miniture on the left?

Either way those are some of the best plastic Greatswords I've seen.

I wonder how many people here feel the same way I do in this kinda situation?

It is both inspiriing and kind of depressing to have a brother who can just whirl off stuff like this. *sigh* I suppose the answer is to just suck it up and make something better.

Certainly the Gswords look great and I will watch the progress on the Helstorm with interest - I might need one of them soon, fluff or no fluff!

Thanks for the comments guys, it's cool that they look good to fellow Empire generals. I wasn't sure if they'd meet up to expectations. I may yet add a little more to them but we'll see.

In answer to Lewby, it is a Bretonnian archer head. I picked some heads up on Ebay because I am a bit of a nut for wanting variation and most of those Bret archer heads can fit in without looking too... Bretonninan  :-P

And brother, you have made some great looking things too. Big Poppa Pump is a legend on our battlefields and those new Mordheimers you made are simply spiffing, especially run away with crossbow guy!

The Greatswords unit champion guy is looking up into the heavens and shaking his fist as if to say: "Curse you, heavens! Curse you!" Perhaps a Pigeon dropped a bomb on him. I like the one on the far right in the first picture. I can't decide whether he found a hat on the ground ("Perfectly good hat!, Why would anyone throw that away?") or if he's in a play and has forgotten his line, so he's sneaking a peek at his hidden script.

"What light in yonder window breaks? It is ... (looks in hat) ... the East, and Juliet the sun."
CannonofDoom spews his shit at me all the time and I haven't banned him.

:icon_lol: You know... strangely enough I was looking at that fellow yesterday and was wondering about putting a little scrap of parchment in there because it really does look like he is sneaking a peak at something...

Obi, you are insane  :-P

Frank, yes I did. and I cut a piece of foam that I had heatgunned down in attempt to make a woodland base into the circle to give it that slight bit of extra height that you can't really see from that pic.
