Shadowlord's Stirland Rabble...
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:56:42 AM »
Wow, never thought I would return to Empire but alas there are some stripes you will never remove. Unlike before however this will not be an get all - have all army but a bit more themed than I have ever done. I still have my Ogres as my main army (and it is huuuuuge), but this upcoming army and another, will supplement the rest quite nice.

I intend to build the following using mostly Free Company, Archer, and Greatsword boxes (with some nice characters, mostly from the Mordheim range) mixed with bits from 40K Catachan and 6th ed State Troopers:

CORE
10 Handgunners DONE!
10 Handgunners
10 Crossbowmen
50 Halberdiers with 20 DONE!
- 20 Free Company detachment
10 Archers
12 IC Freelance Knights

SPECIAL
20 Flagellants (the 6th ed metal ones)
37 Greatswords with (the 6th ed metal ones)
- 15 Swordsmen detachment
2 Cannons
2 Mortars
10 Hunters
5 Pistoliers
5 Outriders

RARE
1 Steam Tank
1 Helblaster
1 Rocket Battery
1 Hurricanum

CHARACTERS
1 General DONE!
1 BSB
1 Captain on Pegasus
1 Engineer
1 Shadow/Death Wizard
1 Light/Metal Wizard DONE!
1 Warrior Priest DONE!
1 Warrior Priest Mounted
1 Witch Hunter DONE!

OTHER
3 Mordheim Warhounds (Greatsword unit fillers)
1 Merchany (dunno what for...)

And yes, it will be a Stirland drunk rabble army. :)

This is what I have done so far (just started all this) and as you can see I am using the greatsword bodies to build my halberdiers.

General Johan von Reisig, former Reikland captain gone outcast

Test halbardier

Done so far

I intend to finish this last photo minis in may.

I am also replacing my gaming table with a more barren looking place with dead trees, old ruins, stone towers, huts, and just bleak weather all around.

I bought some plastic  houses from Perry Miniatures that I will pimp out Warhammer style but they have yet to arrive.

Until next time (this weekend as I finish stuff)!

Thanks folks!

I almost finished the Witch Hunter last night but I didn't want to show him unless I was 100% complete.

Here he is with his BFF my General (I tried to make him have an old mans skull with spots and stuff):

Next up, dinner with wife.

And I am probably not going to hold back on this army, because I have already changed some units I intend to build and paint.

Thanks!

Stubble is pathetically easy to do - thin blue wash.

Looks really good Shadowlord. Specifically I like how you manage to bring real life into the faces. Gives each model character.

Looks quite similar to my speed painting style!

Nice me like!
